between version 2.5.9 and 2.5.22 a bit worried please help

Hi

this morning I noticed that some things such as the captcha in forms were not showing. when I went to module manager in joomla it gave me an error: “error 28 from storage engine”.
I went to google and first I thought it was due to the Mysql and its storage being full.
Then I went to Database in joomla extension manager and found that there were several problems, one of them: “the updated version of the database does not match the CMS version (2,5,9)”. Then, is whem realised that the version had been updated (I swear it was not me!!! I just refreshed and purged cache!!! then I press “Fix it”!! I wonder if that made the version be updated !!!)

Now I can access the module manager, the version of joomla is 2.5.9 (at the bottom of the admin backend), at the control panel the icon asks me to update from 2.5.22, and at extension manager I have an extension “COM_INSTALLER_TYPE_ ” version 2.5.9 and status “x”, no name, no author no folder.

Also, at components/update joomla it tells me that there is an update “Joomla_2.5.x_to_2.5.22-Stable-Patch_Package” ready to be installed. Shall I install it?

What shall I do? It´s the website of the company I don´t want to mess it up … I backed up but I dont know if is too late... I am worried it is going to crash again :/

I would download Joomla 2.5.22 full version,
unzip at local PC,
use FTP to upload all files & folders (except /installation/ which you don't need) overwriting the current ones.
When it's done in back-end choose Extensions > Extension Manager > Datatabase > [Fix] (like you already did, but now maybe with the J2.5.22 database scheme definition)

Do you think I can keep the old version and trust it is stable? I mean, can I just unistall the extension with status "x"?
I think my colleague at work does not want to update to 2.5.22.. so it would be my whole responsibility if i do it :/ I dont know if i want to go through this
