How did you try to add this template?  Did you use the installer or ftp the files over?
It sounds like you have bad code in your admin template.  If nothing else ftp a copy of the original admin template into the folder with the bad template and see if that works.
Regards,
Montano

Hi, that was the correct way to install the template.  So now you've don't this and you can't access your admin panel at all, right?

You are going to have to have ftp access to fix this problem.  You can go to your client and ask them to contact their web host provider to get access to their control panel.  Then you can go into the control panel and reset the ftp password.  I use FileZilla which is free for ftp access.  You can then ftp a copy of the original Joomla admin template into the same folder where the bad template exists.  This should allow you to get back in.

I am sure that either somewhere in a config file or the database there is a place to edit which template is default but I don't know where.  Even so you would still need either ftp access or cpanel access.  You're also going to need this to make backups.
