Hi Folks,

This might be old news, but hope it still helps...

==========

I've managed to upgrade a couple of sites from 4.5 (1.0.9) to 4.5.1a smoothly. Along the way, I've captured the screenshots from upgrading of MyPHPAdmin (SQL) to file transfer via FTP; and compiled a simple pdf guide.

Hope the guide will benefit newbies like myself.

Screenshots online

Download PDF

Cheers!
Clarence

Is is safe to assume the process is the same to go from 4.5.1a to 4.5.2?

Is better to refer to the "readme" file from 4.5.2 before proceeding. If you've additional or modified components/modules, this method might not work well.

Thank you Clarence!

These things are considered so simple by experienced users that they just assume we all know them.

Hils  ;D

@orbital,

its really a great help!

with some addendum, pls add in your first post that the file "upgrade45_109to451.sql" and its  location is in the 451 installation package(when unzipped):

\installation\sql\

took me a while to look for this file. silly me, and perhaps lots of people reading this thread will also have the same silliness i had.

also, if you may; tell also add that: the upgrade is actually overwritting the files in the unzipped folder of the 451 package into the server.

again, thank you. and thank you for reposting it here from the "other" forum.

@orbitant --> btw, while here in our "new home" i am proposing a sub document team that will be under the main team. it will be a doc team specifically for "walkthroughs, tips & tricks". i dont see much of responsibility and consumation of your time since the function of the said sub-doc team is trimmed down to the specific purpose as stated above. if interested, dont hesitate to shoot me a personal message.

looking forward to have you on that team if ever the proposal is approved.

ditto

Think you've missed out this part stated "Upload "upgrade45_109to451.sql" from your Mambo 4.5.1a "INSTALLATION/SQL" folder from local disk."

Yes, that's another possible way to overwrite into the same directory. However, I've chose to "move all existing files in your remote Mambo directory into "45109"." for better tracking of what has been uploaded.

Sure! If I can help in anyway, without going full time.... ;D

Cheers!

On page one:
Quote:
BACKUP ALL YOUR FILES first before you begin the below.

I would add: "BACKUP YOUR DATABASE" followed by a short backup procedure.

So does anyone have instructions for migrating from Mambo 4.5.5 to Joomla?
