Here is a thought.

We have a code roadmap, why not one for the "non-development side of the project"?

Nice idea Barry

At least that way we know what is going on and dont waste time on things already in hand etc and instead can work on things that do nead doing.

You only need to look at the activities at other large projects to realise that there is much that can be done

Not as daft as you think. Debian use SVN for all sorts of things including planning debconf

mmmmmm... roadmaps, lol, you know ;)

You have the developers blog and the private forums.

IMO, finding time to blog takes more time and resources than a single click to make the private forums readable to all and writeable only to the interested persons. At least the forums intended to work and with shareable information.

If there´s any reason to keep a forum private, do it, but think in the advantages of having more info too...

Currently we have something more akin to an ordered todo list.

Its long and it will take time to get through. Structural changes that will come to light in the near future will help us accelerate as well as better communicate the todo list. I would point out that there is always going to be some information that will not be made public. There are various reasons for this... a past example was the Extensions directory, no public information was made during its development as we wanted to provide a surprise for the greater community.

I would suggest that for now... keep an eye on the Joomla! sites for up coming announcements and purhaps subscribe to the announcements forum if your keen to get the news ASAP.

Cheers
Shayne

Suggested delivery system for this:

  • Social media / messenging / contact app
  • Which then links into calendar
  • Calendar lists tasks with an expected todo date

Edit: I say this as I'm working on an AMS that should do the job based on 1.0.x

@ Absaom... omething very close to what you've suggested is highly likely.

We have to sort out the internal system first which is cuurently underway and that will be used to feed the external(public system). The Calendar idea we are starting to play with via Google's Calender and its possible Google Groups may be utilised as we have done with developer documentation.

Incidentally... if anyone has suggestions on possible tools that would achieve this at the public end I would be keen for input.

Cheers
Shayne
