On Wednesday October 12th at 7:00 PM, I will be giving a presentation on component development at PHP DC: Washington's PHP user group ( http://www.dcphp.com/Developers/ ). All are welcome!

Meetings are held downtown in the National Press Building (14th and F St. NW) in Room #495, located one block from Metro Center on the Red, Blue, and Orange lines.

PHP DC exists solely for educational purposes. All are meetings are free and open to the public.

Will this presentation be recorded in any fashion? Hopefully you can post this to the web in some format. Thanks!

I really don't have anything I can feasibly use for recording. If someone else does record it, I'll be sure to get a copy and post it.

At the presentation, I received a lot of feedback about Joomla. Here in Washington, a lot of PHP programmers have a hard time convincing federal offices to use open-source products, as they typically use Microsoft exclusively. One of the requirements that Joomla does not currently fulfill is full compliance with Section 508 accessibility guidelines. Both front facing AND administrative pages must fully comply with 508 to be used for federal sites. I know this is in the roadmap for future versions, but thought I'd pass it along as the issue did come up.
