I apologize if this has already been mentioned but I went back 6 or 7 pages in this forum to 2006 and saw nothing.

I'm sure most of you who use vB are less than satisfied with the options available to vB users wishing to integrate or bridge vB with Joomla. You can comb this site and any vB site and see tons of posts about bridging and most do not shed a positive light on the subject. There are workarounds such as elearning force and bbpixel but neither provide a fully functional solution from what I've read to date (and I've read a lot).

I think it would be really great if the Joomla devs would approach this topic seriously and give us some concrete input as to whether or not a solution can be found to marry vB/Joomla db's (or at least have them query each other properly) whereby a Joomla user is a vB user and vice versa.

So my actual question is this, are there any plans to make a working bridge for vB/Joomla in any future releases or is there a reason Joomla has not appeared to seriously consider this rather popular community need?

Thanks,

Ken

Hi Duke,

A request for Joomla! -- vB integration ?  join the masses !  Who wouldn't want to integrate the best forum software and the best CMS out there ?

Sadly this is a tough thing to accomplish.  Many have tried and failed, including uber Joomla!er Predator.

bbpixel is the best solution thus far, but requires some vbulletin core file modifications.

It is my hope that Joomla! gets better at working with other programs in version 1.5.  I've heard that "better integration with other apps" will occur in 1.5, whenever it is released, timetable unestablished.

Ya I realize this is the case sadly but I thought if it were an actual request with a good list of feedback from fellow vB users, maybe it would get some serious consideration and input from the dev team.

There are so many vB/Joomla topics out there it's actually quite maddening if one were to try looking for a viable solution. I do realize of all the integration possibilities, bbpixel seems to be the best but it is not a complete solution from what I've seen a number of topics with bbpixel related issues. I think the only people that can truly offer a complete, robust and hassle free solution are the Joomla Dev Team which is the reason for this entire topic.

I do hope we get more feedback here though because I don't think anyone will consider input from only two sources.

I think they know.  Predator is a Core Dev member and he tried to get the integration to work but never came up with a robust solution.  The com_connector forum used to be a vBridge forum, until vBridge died and I said that wasn't fair to name a forum after a product that never was a viable solution.
