No help possible if the feed's url is not provided ?as well as your site url as it may also be CSS related.

Sorry!

This is a development site: 9look at the first news content- You will see "See Them Live!" and on the next line the rss.

The RSS feed is:

The "See them live" string is apparently a part of content while the feed (in the kl_rssfeed tags) is in its own container.
Therefore the link can't be on the same line as the content.

Great bot, thanks!. I'm having a problem in firefox, though. The formatting looks "funky". The bullets are above the link instead of next to it. Same with all feeds I try. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Tweak the CSS if you have used the utf8 version (see some posts above).
Some templates includes per default a background image for

    Is there a reason the following will work:

    {kl_rssfeed}http://aaunews.org/news/?feed=rss2{/kl_rssfeed}

    But this will not:

    {kl_rssfeed}http://aaunews.org/news/?cat=10&feed=rss2{/kl_rssfeed}

    I have checked and the link is correct and works under joomla standard rss reader but displays as blank in content item.

    With debug on I get the following:

    Debug-KL_RSSFEED:
    ------

    --
    http://aaunews.org/news/?feed=rss2Array ( [chtitle] => 1 [chdesc] => 0 [chsrc] => 0 [itemsrc] => 0 [image] => 1 [title] => 1 [desc] => 1 [item_one] => 0 [items] => 5 [word_count] => 256 [span] => span [cache] => 3600 [class] => [debug] => 1 )
    ------
    Debug-KL_RSSFEED:
    ------

    --
    http://aaunews.org/news/?cat=10&feed=rss2Array ( [chtitle] => 1 [chdesc] => 0 [chsrc] => 0 [itemsrc] => 0 [image] => 1 [title] => 1 [desc] => 1 [item_one] => 0 [items] => 5 [word_count] => 256 [span] => span [cache] => 3600 [class] => [debug] => 1 )

    The first item displays properly.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Nothing to do with the template CSS.

    Please post here the url of the feed you want to display.

    @weallen

    This may have to do with the ampersand (  & ) in the link.

    Test by entering the tags in NOWYSIWYG editor or using the Hide function of JCE 1.1 to keep the "&"

    Tested on Joomla 1.0.12, iso-8559-1 site, php 4.4.4 => OK

    What comes to my mind: are you using 1.0.12?
    Are you using the kl_rssfeed mambot proposed to download in the first post of this thread?

    Have you tested the feed through the normal newsfeed component?

    Hi... I really need some help with this bot.

    UTF-8 Feeds works great
    ISO-8859-1 Feeds looks like crap

    Some details on my site:
    PHP Version:  4.4.4
    Joomla!: 1.0.12 Stable [ Sunfire ] 25 December 2006 01:00 UTC
    Site Encoding:  ISO-8859-1
    kl_rssfeed:
    * MODIFICATIONS:
    * 4/9/2005 made corrections for ' HTML code
    * July 2006 compatibility with Joomla! 1.09+ by infograf768
    * October 2006: Tableless variant by  infograf768
    Feeds non UTF-8 trying to get:
    http://www.cadenaglobal.com/rss.aspx?seccion=8
    http://www.eluniversal.com/rss/eco_avances.xml
    http://www.mercadodedinerove.com/rss
    See the output at:
    http://www.inosanchez.com/content/view/76/18/

    I have to say that kl_rssfeed 4.5.2 was working pretty fine but now we want to get UTF-8 feeds like Google News, CNN, BBC, etc.

    UTF-8 Feeds with kl_rssfeed 4.5.2 are useless.
    ISO-8859-1 Feeds with kl_rssfeed tableless utf8 are useless.

    Any ideas to get UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 Feeds working at my site?

    I don't care if á-é-í-ó-ú-etc are replaced with a-e-i-o-u, i just wanna have it working.

    Sorry for my poor english.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I just took one example from your list

    http://www.eluniversal.com/rss/eco_avances.xml

    It works on php5 and php4, on an iso 8559-1 site as well as an utf8 site.

    I suggest you test with the default solarflare template and report back here as I have seen that the encoding for your template is NOT included in the

    Well, you are absolutly right... The template was made by myself with no php skills at all.  Obviously, it was plenty of faults.  I reviewed the Solarflare and reestructure the order of all the tags and kl_rssfeed begins to work with both sources (UTF-8 & ISO-8559-1).

    Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hi!

    Thanks for creating such a great mambot. But um... I have a problem with it, when I use it for the feed http://www.srcf.ucam.org/sjc-jcr/index2 ... &feed_id=1 it a completely outdated item.

    The RSS bit of the user module has no problem with the feed, though, and neither does the problem show up when I open it in Firefox...

    Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks :-[

    Odd, I get "Welcome to the JCR" which I now realise is the only item that is published on the front page. Sorry, am I missing a setting which will let me list articles which aren't part of the front page? :'(

    Thanks again!

    Edit: Um, I put up the module at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/sjc-jcr/ - it's at the top of the LEFT hand menu (says KL RSS test) - thanks so much for your help! :\

    Joomla 1.0.12 syndicates assigned to FrontPage contents only (if this feed is your own feed).

    Thanks for the reply. But um - the user module using RSS displays fine (but the problem with that is that I can't get it to open links in the same window)

    Sorry for the trouble... but is there really no way around it ???

    the rss feed that I'm using is:

    http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/sportonlin ... ge/rss.xml

    Edit the parameters for the Mambot through admin.
    Customize for each feed at will (read the read-me file)

    Content of Read-me file
    Quote:
    {kl_rssfeed image="0"chtitle="0"chdesc="0"span="div"}http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p=new+york&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x=wrt{/kl_rssfeed}

                  default
    "image" "1" Display Channel images
    "chtitle" "1" Display Channel titles
    "chdesc" "1" Display Channel description
    "chsrc" "0" Do NOT Display the HTML source code for the Channel
    "title" "1" Display the item title
    "desc" "1" Display the item description
    "itemsrc" "0" Do NOT Display the HTML source code for the Item
    "item_one" "1" Specify the item number to start with
    "items" "1" Specify the max number of stories per feed
    "word_count" "100" Specify the max number of words per story
    "span" "0" Wrap the feed in a span or a div
    "cache" "3600" Number of seconds to cache each feed.
    "class" "kl_rssfeed" CSS class to be used in the various HTML tags.
    "debug" "0" Turning this on will produce a lot of output!

    Thanks for the reply. But um - the user module using RSS displays fine (but the problem with that is that I can't get it to open links in the same window)

    Sorry for the trouble... but is there really no way around it ???

    Change the way you work with the FrontPage component, i.e. assign what you want to show in the module using kl_rssfeed (and modifying the target as I explained to you in another post) to the Front Page Component and DO NOT USE the link to FrontPage Component anywhere.

    Instead, create a link to a static content for example that will be your home page and place it as the First item in the main menu.
