Joomla User Group Starting - N. California

Post by reichgut » Mon May 14, 2007 5:03 pm

Now that the very successful Joomla Days West conference ended here in Mountain View, I wanted to build on the momentum by getting a User's Group started in the SF Bay Area. I spoke with quite a few people at the conference (or should I say "unconference") and quite a few expressed interest in a user group in N. California.

I am very excited and optimistic that we can get this group off the ground relatively quickly. Before getting started though, I wanted to make sure to get this announcement out to the full Joomla community and see if there are other who would be interested but weren't able to make it this weekend.

If you would be interested in joining the group, please reply and let me know and I will definitely put your name on the list.

And here is our 'official' blog entry announcing the event!

http://axtaweb.com/first-bay-area-jooml ... eting.html

And to ease the pain of clicking yet another link, here is the entry for your reading pleasure!
First Bay Area Joomla! User Group Meeting!

To all you Bay Area Joomla! developers and users: It's time for us to come together! During the first (annual?) Joomla! Day West unconference, a Bay Area Joomla! user group was created. And only a few short weeks after J-Day West, it's time for us to come together!

The wonderful people at Google will be facilitating our first of many meetings. So if you're in the area, join us! The particulars of the event are as follows:

Tuesday, June 5th @ 7p.m.

Building 43 @ the Google offices in Mountain View
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View, CA

Much like Joomla! Day West, this first meeting will depend largely on user generated feedback! While we at AxtaWeb are taking the 'helm', we are in no means controlling the outcome of the meeting. In fact we want all possible topics to be a round table discussion! Possible topics include:

    * Template Design & Development
    * 'What are you doing with Joomla!?'
    * Interface Design, and why it's important.
    * SEO / SEF basics.
    * and the list goes on...

We hope to see you there!

Thanks and more power!

ahh building 43.. I know you well :)
(we had last year's Core Team Summit in that building)
Nice to hear this group is going well.

However, I am not sure this thread should be up here.. seems someone posted in it recently, despite it being rather old. In any case, we will see.
