Ready For Approval

The Category Manager shows a list of the categories defined on your Web site.  Categories are ordered by the section they belong to.  A drop-down menu allows you to display the categories belonging to one specific section at a time.

You may filter the categories by the section they belong to.

See this Help Screen for specific help for News Feeds and the Contacts Category Manager.
Help Screen: News Feeds and Contacts Category Manager.

Toolbar:
Click on the following icons after checking the box next to a specific category.

Publish and Unpublish:  Check the checkbox next to all the categories that you would like to publish (display) or unpublish (not display) on your Web site.  You can check multiple categories.  Click the 'Publish' or 'Unpublish' icon.

New:  Click the 'New' icon to create a new category.

Edit:  Click the 'Edit' icon to edit the parameters of an existing category.

Move:  Click the 'Move' icon to open a new "Move Category" window, where you can choose to move a selected category and *all of it's Content Items* to another existing section.  You may click multiple checkboxes to move several categories.

Copy:  Click the 'Copy' icon to open a new "Copy Category" window, where you can choose to copy a selected category and *all of it's Content Items* to another existing section.  You may click multiple checkboxes to copy several categories (The content items copied will keep the same name).

Trash:  Click the 'Trash' icon to delete the categories selected.  An alert will appear in a pop-up window to confirm that would like to delete the selected categories.  This action cannot be performed if the category contains Content Items.  You will have to delete the Content Items first.

Columns
Category Name:  Click on the category name to edit the category parameters.  A padlock icon next to it shows that the category is checked-out.  The category must be checked back in in order to edit it.

Published:  This column displays whether the category is published or not.  Click the icon to change the status of the category.

Order:  This column displays the order of all the categories (this has no effect on site display).  You may change the order by selecting a new number and clicking on the "Save Order" icon in the heading.

Access:  This column displays the user access level.  Click on the 'Public, Registered' or 'Special' text to change the user access level.

Section:  This column displays the name of the section that a category belongs to.  Clicking on the section name allows you to edit the parameters for that category's section.

Category ID:  This column displays the ID for each category as defined in the database.

# Active:  This column displays the number of published content items in a category.

#Trash:  This column displays the number of Content Items belonging to this category and currently in the Trash.

Charles,

My corrections are in the post below.  Any of your corrections that I have not edit are just fine.  You can now move yours and my corrections to the Help Site.

To others,

If anyone still finds any spelling or grammar errors, please post them in this thread.

Thank-you!

Michelle,

The revised text posted here for the Category Manager 1.0x has been added to the help site and the changelog has been updated.

I have also noticed that the text editor is having problems again (I really am not sure if the problems ever went away, but I did not notice them for a while) and I am having to go back into the HTML to edit my content.  There are many breaks being placed where there should be paragraph tags also.

Charles

This Help Screen is now ready for the second revision by someone who has not already revised it.

Thanks!

Thanks  Charles!

This content item is ready for another revision, or proof-reading, by someone who has not already proof-read it.

Fresh eyes for proof-reading might discover something that was missed in the first revisions.

This can be done by anyone in the community who wishes to proof-read occasionally without committing to the doc project on an on going manner.
