Bugfix Itemid (for 1.0.12) also available for 1.5?

Does anyone have a hack for this for 1.5 yet?  I'm having this same trouble in 1.5.  This is giving me nightmares.  Seems like such a core function (like the ability to place content in module positions, that 3rd party modules like content item and simple content fix) to be not working properly.  Or rather, intuitively.

We are reviewing the issue and will decide on if and how to solve it between RC1 and RC2. Its not as simple as it seems, since you very easily can get an unstable state within the ItemID system.
