Does anyone know if someone has developed or is working on an iPhone template for Joomla. iPhone uses Safari, but my site is heavy for the EDGE network. I'm really looking for a way to have my Joomla site sniff and put out a template that follows the look of an iPhone app. Fast, clean and iPhone friendly.

Anyone?

That's a poorly designed iPhone theme set up for desktops. I'm inquiring about a theme designed specifically for viewing on the iPhone. I already have a great theme for my main site. I'd like to get an iPhone friendly theme (not one of the mobile versions that has made the rounds), but a true template designed with Apple's standards in mind.

I haven't seen any particular theme created for mobile devices, but that doesn't mean there not out there.  I've checked around a bit, but nothing at this time.  I doubt you'll find anything for the iphone at this point in time.

what kind of features are youu looking to be included.

we did a dot mobi site using joomla that met dot mobi requirements/standards and we are currently moving forward with making additional features that work with standard phones., we are currently finishing out our first 1.5RC1 dot mobi site.

I thought the whole point of the iphone (having Safari a full functioning browser) was to view the web as you would from a normal puter'. Is it really that slow? I was thinking of getting one. Seems I'm outta the loop. Do you have any good links on " Apple Web Protocal"?

the link for our mobile specific dot mobi site is http://www.lmpoker.mobi

you can see the dot mobi readyness report here: http://ready.mobi/results.jsp?uri=http% ... cale=en_EN

compared to a standard joomla install here: http://ready.mobi/results.jsp?uri=http% ... ll&ch=null

I know that the iphone probably renders tables properly, but most cell phones dont - if your viewing a site designed for a desktop on a small screen surely your going to have to either pan/zoom or scroll horizontally...

also images that are wider than your cell phone screen are going to be cause issues...

i think its important to have two different versions for desktop/mobile platforms - or even straight mobile.

ive be posting on these forums about starting a dot mobi dev team so if anyone is interested let me know :)

I created an iPhone version for my website, then decided to port it to Joomla.  You can download it here and/or click on the demo:

I was impressed when I saw this but joomlapraise.com has published an iPhone-friendly admin template. I hope other template providers are on this same path. http://www.joomlapraise.com/club-joomla ... praise.php

Did you guys see this one?
http://themeforest.net/item/joomla-mobi ... heme/16040

It has "flick" support. At only 8 bucks, its a no brainer to purchase and modify to look like your own site.

I've had a difficult time with that "no brainer". Plus, it's actually $20 since you have to deposit that amount in order to use ThemeForest.

Yeh even at $20 its not bad. But he also has a Theme that has both as options. You could buy it, install it, and look through his code. Photoshop the images used in the themes, and redesign it to look more to your taste.

What I'm getting at with the "no brainer" is at $8 (or $20) it makes for a cheep lesson. There seems to be a decent market for iPhone/iPod ready Joomla themes. Heck ill go buy it and see what I can learn off of it.

Oh and some of you might be interested in mobify.me I ran my site through it and its pretty simple and FREE.

Good luck with it. I haven't been very lucky with it. Documentation is poor, but the dev is somewhat helpful.

I've already been themeing so this should be an easy transition. I've also been reading his blog and he has a lot of info and help.

I would like to go ahead and say my first few attempts will be free. Ill keep you all posted.

I just finished one... Really good one which uses a few extra tables in the DB but is all in a template folder otherwise. uses extended menu too.

visit nsanegraphics.com on your iphone or touch.

also, I want to add more if anyone would like to work on it with me. I would like to include a component to control the meta data and so forth so you can submit a mobile sitemap to google.

@sif: I took a look at your link quickly and it looks like you have a mass amount of content on there... Im not sure how you would do all that on the iphone. What exactly were you looking to display on the iphone. It is a template so of course you can leave modules out and wrap with different css but it more or less has to be much more simple in order to look simple on the small screen on the device... but yeah, I can try and help you integrate it.

There is a Joomla 1.5.x Mobile Phone template here: http://noxidsoft.com/deploy/joomla-specialty-templates/mobile-phone.html.

With some modifications you would be able to down-version this same template for 1.0.x versions of Joomla too.

Each iPhone application has its own home directory containing Library and Documents folders, and a tmp directory for storing temporary files. The program directory for an iPhone application is much less structured than desktop Mac applications, and all of the application’s resources are stored in the root of the .app program folder. The following is an example of a single application’s complete home directory,

Hi to all, Having a continuous fear of maintaining the looks of your I Phone 5 is regular. With ever program and day to day madness, it might occur that you might not able to take care of your iPhone 5 and lastly at some point it gets broken. So, for maintaining the looks just as new, it is suggested to buy iPhone 5 case for your device. Developed with quality materials & maximum design, the situations are created according to the dimension iPhone 5. Thank you.

I created an iPhone/iPad version of my site last night, and after seeing how easy it was I though: why doesn't YOOtheme have a mobile template? surely everybody who uses ANY other YOOtheme could also benefit from having a mobile template installed as well, and if you guys are selling subscriptions by license (except for the total subscription) this might force people to bump up from a 1-template license to the 3-template license, or from 3 -templates up to the highest subscription in a way that no other single template would do.

I installed the MobileJoomla component, which sits in Joomla and checks what browser people are accessing the site with, and then changes the theme to match. I customized the iPhone/iPad template to my liking and added a few things to the site to make it fully web-app ready. Regards, Nash Tanim
