problem uploading a component

Post by missirabah » Tue Aug 28, 2007 3:38 am

When I attempt load my component zip file I receive this message:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getTagName() on a non-object in home/../libraries/joomla/installer/installer.php on line 1377

1) I am using the 1.5 version and have successfully loaded 2 other tutorial components - one of them being LeBlanc's Hello World - (http://www.jlleblanc.com/joomla/Tutoria ... mla_1%115/).

2) I am using a mac and thus am using Blue Harvest to clean out all invisible 'housekeeping' files.

3) My file structure is fairly straightforward.  Five files: one class; one php file to call functions, one html file for output, one empty index.html, and one xml file.  There are no admin backend files.

4) The xml file mimics exactly LeBlanc's file:

Please excuse this novice, but what could I be missing?

Two more things:

Two more things:

1) I zip the files using DropStuff - not mac's archive function. (I've read that can cause problems.)

2) I've uploaded my files elsewhere (to run as an independent webpage), and there don't seem to be any errors in the php script.

I'm at a loss as to what I should be tweaking to make this work..

solved

...I think.

There seems to be some hidden coding in the xml file which associates it with the Dreamweaver program that is causing the problem.  This is the code which signifies that the file be represented by the green dreamweaver icon; when I click on the file, it automatically opens in Dreamweaver...

xml files without an association to any 3rd party program seem to upload without a problem.
Does this make sense to any of the pros out there?

I humbly suggest you try the 1.5 forum.  This is for 1.0x releases.
