only just figured out that this place exists and it's probably the reason why my post isn;t getting answered on forum.mamboserver so here it is again

i have an rss feed at:

http://astonvilla.biz/index2.php?option ... &no_html=1

which keeps changing!! the itemid at the end sometimes says =0 then sometimes says =1

does anyone know why this is happening and how i can fix it?

help would be greatly apprecaited.

damo

You may want to delete all the cached files (or just the ones starting with rss) and try again. Make sure the cache dir has write permissions.

Not sure as to where and when the no_html variable would change though.

thanks for the reply but i'm not caching anything ...

it appears now to be an rss feed issue as they're no longer changing. the url has an itemid=1 and the rss url is itemid=0

very strange

It appears that  in order for the feed to be generated, that it needs to be written in the cache directory.
You could also go and download the RSS XT component and module instead, it seems to be people's favourite replacement.

i'll try xt but i really want to get this fixed first because it's just happened out of the blue

I see the caching problem is now solved.

But, I don't get it, what exactly is not working? I went to your site, copied the feed location for any of the feeds, made it into a live bookmark in FireFox and it works perfectly..

i have just read another post about itemid's and needing to be allocated to menus.

so, as i dont use the top menu i assigned the news section to the top menu and now the rss feed is generating the same url as the news item url.

i dont even know how this has happened. i suspect because i changed the secion name it was getting lost somewhere but i dont know for sure. i'm just happy that the rss is working fine .. thanks for your help though you did point me in a right direction!!

cheers
damo

Weird that, I still don't get what went wrong, but I'm glad it works again!

Also, may I suggest you check out the syndication component settings, FireFox users will love it if you switch on Live Bookmarks (the caching is also controlled there by the way).
