We're pleased to announce the first of many Joomla!Day USAs, this first one taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area on May 12 - 13, 2007.

This Joomla!Day will be breaking the mold by having the entire two day convergence determined by the community.  What does this mean?  We'll be following the un-conference format, which allows attendees to post sessions they'd like to see, propose ideas for who they'd like to see talk, and more!

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The US is very large, both geographically and in population size.  To address this, and to keep the intimate nature of what we believe would be the most impactful Joomla!Day in the US, we will have multiple Joomla!Day USAs in 2007.  For now, I have heard from others that there is interest in Joomla!Day USAs in:

  • Austin, TX
    New York, NY

You can learn more about the Joomla!Day USA West event at:

http://www.joomladayusa.org

We will be adding the other Joomla!Day USAs as they are created here, or people can feel free obviously to make their own sites for other Joomla!Day USAs.

Registration for the Joomla!Day USA West will be open on Monday, March 26, at noon EDT.

Best,
Ryan Ozimek

Hi Ryan,

I'm really looking forward to your event as the idea sounds really interesting.

As already discussed the events are approved to be official Joomla!Days and we will see what we can make possible to support you guys.

Looking forward to reading your reports when the event is fully booked ;-)

Alex

Yes, I think this will be a great event and it will be good to see everyone who can attend. Ryan has this all really well organized from what I have seen and heard so it would certainly be a worthwhile event to consider attending! :)

Hi Brian,

Perhaps I misunderstood but when I spoke to Ryan I got the impression it was open to anyone but simply targeted towards those on the West Coast and the idea of hosting multiple events across the United States was simply to cut down travel time for people, if they wanted. I didn't however get the impression it was restricted to West Coast residents only though.

Perhaps Ryan can clarify the situation? :)

Chris and Brian,

Chris is absolutely right.  The event is open to anyone (yes, even our UK friends), who'd like to attend.  We're just trying to make sure people don't think this is the only Joomla!Day USA this year, so that people don't spend a lot of money to come to this event, when they can go to the great other ones in planning in the midwest and east.

Cheers,
Ryan

Oh I completely misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that as tthe event was limited to 125 people that those outside of West Coast USA should not attend.

Brian you should no me ;-) - I would argue a lot with Ryan when he would start an idea like that.

Everybody is welcome to join from everywhere on the planet as for any Joomla!Day world wide.

Who will come? Post here ...

How does this work? Do we have to make our own lodging and dinning arrangement or this will be taken care of by the registration fee, if so how much is the fee, what time the event starts.

Hi everyone,

I'm happy to announce that the registration for the Joomla!Day USA West is up and running live at:

http://www.joomladayusa.org

Our cool registration system is currently on the fritz, but hopefully Chris will have this fixed over the weekend.  Remember, we're only able to accept the first 125 registrations, so get yours in there fast!

Best,
Ryan

Registration has filled up fast for the inaugural Joomla!Day USA event, and we're very excited with the feedback we're getting.  With only 20 registration spots left, if you're interested in going, you should sign-up right away:

Register Now

Important Note:  Registering for this Web site DOES NOT mean that you're registered for the event.  I know that a lot of people have registered to become users of this site using the login form on the homepage; however, if you want to register for the event, you must use the link above.

Looking forward to seeing this great group in just a couple weeks!

We have received confirmation from the Hotel Avante that they'll be providing all Joomla Day USA West attendees with a nightly room rate of only $89/night!  Approximately about 25% of the registered attendees will need hotel space, as most are locals.

Avante

860 E. El Camino Real
Mountain View, CA 94040
(650) 940-1000

We're recommending that all hotel attendees stay here, so we can pass the Joomla fun into the night!  Let them know when you're making the reservation under the Joomla!Day group.

Best,
Ryan
