In the most recent svn download/install, the Example Pages are now visible as default on all menus...BUT...

The Category Table example lacks anything meaningful for navigation.  The categores 1-2-3-4-5 are listed with an author and hits, but their are no active links to the individual categories themselves.

The Section Table appears to function properly with links to the sections...BUT...

When you click on the Section Names to get a table of the artcles therein, it too reacts similar to the Category Table page with names and no clickable links to drill down deeper to the article level.  The Articles 1-2 etc. under the Administrator Section go nowhere other than to display the list.

Are topics/titles missing?  Should there not be active links to destinations?

This is a residual issue to the Component Configuration/Parameters rework. The sample data was created before this work and there are interactions and incorrect behaviours (see related reports: #1 and #2).

For example, to show the titles in the case you have mentioned, please follow the steps:

1) Go to "Example Pages" menu (back-end).

2) Edit "Category Table" menu item.

3) Set "Show Article Title" parameter to "Hide" at Component Configuration and click "Apply" button.

4) Set "Show Article Title" parameter to "Show" at Component Configuration and click "Save" button.

Now the titles will be displayed (you can repeat the same steps for "Section Table" menu item).

Note: You can see that the "Title Column" parameter can be set through "Component Configuration" now for this type of menu items. However, there is a report to consider this type of procedure (see the "report #2" mentioned above).

Thank you for the help on this matter.  I shall dig into it during a spare moment.  However, don't you think this requires too much digging and isn't within the realm of the obvious nor intuitive to have to make these configurations manually.  Should the display of article titles, links, etc. be a default element?

I have described the steps of the example as a possible alternative to solve temporarily the problem with those menu items you have mentioned. However, the sample data will be updated for future releases.

You will not have this problem when creating new menu items in Joomla! 1.5. You can set a global configuration value by default for these parameters.

Although, I am not sure if the current problem with sample data can appear similarly when migrating this type of menu items from the 1.0.x series.

The latest svn nightly build has resolved this issue.  Thank you to whoever took the time to make sure that the article titles are listed in the tables and linkable.  The Section/Category tables pages now look perfect.  Another bug squashed...
