This is a residual issue to the Component Configuration/Parameters rework. The sample data was created before this work and there are interactions and incorrect behaviours (see related reports:
#1 and
#2).
For example, to show the titles in the case you have mentioned, please follow the steps:
1) Go to "Example Pages" menu (back-end).
2) Edit "Category Table" menu item.
3) Set "Show Article Title" parameter to "Hide" at Component Configuration and click "Apply" button.
4) Set "Show Article Title" parameter to "Show" at Component Configuration and click "Save" button.
Now the titles will be displayed (you can repeat the same steps for "Section Table" menu item).
Note: You can see that the "Title Column" parameter can be set through "Component Configuration" now for this type of menu items. However, there is a report to consider this type of procedure (see the "report #2" mentioned above).
