OpenSEF may now be downloaded from SourceForge.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opensef/

Note: this project was created on SourceForge on 2006-06-27 for the following reasons:
1. Promoting OpenSEF - the SF news feed is carried on many thousands of sites
2. An alternative to the often unreliable old JoomlaForge.

It was originally my intention to make the general release version of RC6 the first OpenSEF news posted on SF.
But, an alternative download site seems to be appropriate now.

Available files:
OpenSEF.v2.0.0-RC5_SP2 - the current version recommended for live sites.
OpenSEF.v2.0.0-RC6 ALPHA - the latest testing and development version posted in the OpenSEF Testers forum on 2007-02-01.
Do not attempt use this on a live production site.

Thats great news Ken.  Looks like NuSEF is no longer required.

Thanks for all the work you must be putting into getting a new version developed.

Regards,
Chris.

Hi Chris,

I just saw NuSEF a few minutes ago and went "oh wow, a new SEF component!"
On closer examination . . .  :)
Good idea to post a download.
I am surprised no potential users have asked in the forum.
OpenSEF downloads usually run 100-200 per day.

My admin access to the JoomlaCode OpenSEF project has been disabled so I cannot upload there.

SourceForge is good for open source - they never delete anything.
OpenSEF 2.0.0-RC5 is now out there forever.

Regards,

Ken

Ken says....1) "the last testing and development version" and 2) "SourceForge is good for open source - they never delete anything.
OpenSEF 2.0.0-RC5 is now out there forever."

Chris...you say....."Thanks for all the work you must be putting into getting a new version developed."

I don't read those as being the same thing? Sorry...just trying to clarify...this doesn't mean OpenSEF is being revived by Ken or simply made available to download. Ken...do you mean "last" as in "last" or "last" as in "latest with more to come by you" ?  ???

Phil

Hi Phil,
Changed "last" to "latest" -  ;)

First, I just wanted to get downloads available again.
Beyond that, the future is unknown.
Right now with all the upheaval, the future of many components is unknown.
Including all SEF components and OpenSEF.

There are a few developers who have expressed an interest in OpenSEF.
The early surge of interest was lost due to waiting months to receive open source code from the previous developers of XE2.
Over the life of the project a number of developers have asked for SVN access to start contributing.
With no SVN (until just recently), that interest faded again.

Yesterday I went looking for some of those developers who had expressed interest.
Do not know if I can find them easily.
With the demise of the current forum, I lost 700+ PMs and 2,000+ posts.
Many of the contacts were in there.

Right now - just needed to get downloads available again.
What's next? - dunno.
We will see.

OpenSEF could be a tremendous marketing tool for a Joomla site developer.

My email address has not changed.

The "stealing your code" comment got me so mad I took a day to clam down and write this. The minor few hours I spent on this project apparently count for little in the if-you-are-not-a-coder-you-are-not-$#!t world.

One forum post in months - You have responded to one complaint post in the forum Roadmap thread in 3-4 months and I am supposed to think you are committed?
Last code posted in Testers Forum - over 3 1/2 months ago.
Previous to that there were months-and-months of no activity.
If you are busy, fine. That is life.

And now you completely erase all remaining evidence of support for this project and you are upset that other people are trying to carry on?
Without a word to me:
- deleted the entire web site and forum
- deleted all file downloads
- deleted the SVN
- deleted my Admin access to OpenSEF on JoomlaCode
And you are mad at me for posting a download source.
Unbelievable.

Obviously some others came to the same reasonable conclusions that I did and established the NuSEF project as a place to download the OpenSEF component.

Some people have requested the OpenSEF SVN which was on JoomlaCode.
So I zipped it and posted it on SourceForge.
Download here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=171110

File is about 931KB.

Last update was 06-15-2007.

My also not, but you never use it the last 12 month as i have checked. You disapear for months without a note, so that i was alone. I for my part close this debate as you have shown in other debates you only see your point and that is not often the right one.

Wish you honestly luck and don't want any further discussion except per mail.
