The globalnerd Team is proud to present our latest stable release - the AEC 0.12.4

Image

New features at a glance:

Major changes
  • New Backend Help function that analyzes your setup
  • Extensive Email Functionality
  • New Invoice-based system of handling Registrations
  • AEC Subscription Process can be parted from any other registration process on your site (apart from also being able to show plans first or second during registration with joomla or CB)
  • This also means that we support every other component that uses the joomla login routines
  • New payment processor API that now also supports: CCBill, Paycom, Alertpay, epsnetpay, Paysignet, eway and moneyproxy
  • Heartbeat function that will carry out cron-job like actions
  • PHP based selection of Payment Plans including an extensive Restrictions system
  • Discount Coupons
  • Full German translation
Integration changes
  • Micro Integration System to attach php code with parameters to a payment plan
  • Already features MicroIntegrations for: emails, htaccess, mysql queries, setting of docman or VirtueMart groups, restricting downloads in docman and remository, restricting of listings amount of Mosets Tree and many more
  • SEF compatibility reworked
Backend changes
  • Large parts of the Backend revised to be more useable and better looking
  • Better backend handling of users, extensive sorting features
  • new Eventlog that gives you information on what is happening in the system
Minor changes
  • Custom Plans Intro, Thanks, Cancel and NotAllowed Page
  • Custom Text on most pages
  • added possibility to provide a custom IPN URL when you are working with balanced servers (paypal has a bad habit of not understanding this)
  • Expiration Cushion Setting
  • More User-Control over invoices (ability to cancel&redo on Mysubscription and Pending page)
  • Terms Of Service feature on Confirmation of Registration/Subscription
  • MySubscription, Expired and Pending pages reworked to break less layouts
  • Lots of bugfixes and optimizations

Since the last stable version, we have largely rebuild our code and if you have a look at our full changelog here, you will see what I'm talking about. We have been working on this for over half a year now and it really was about time for a stable version.

There have also been changes to our website - http://www.globalnerd.org - not only have we switched to a secure connection, we also got ourselves a little make-up. The other thing we changed was our download policy. Since the AEC has grown a lot (and our customerbase as well - currently at 4,5k) we had to make a decision on which way we want to go with financing our development. Even before the big joomla GPL compliance discussion, we have decided that we want to stick with the GPL and thus keep our software free as in freedom. But we also made a clear decision about our price tag - it will stay at exactly zero.

However, since we offer subscriptions to support or work and get higher priority support on globalnerd, we decided to put up one little restriction: With every new release, there will be a short introduction period (stable releases 10 days, development releases 5 days) in which the release is only available to paying subscribers. Should there be more than a hundred subscribers in that period of time, we will end this period earlier. There is a counter for this on globalnerd if you wonder what is going on.

So, if you are interested in finding out our new version and care to support our work, just head over to globalnerd.org and check it out!

Ok, the 10 days are over, thanks to everybody who has subscribed!

As a compensation to the time you had to wait, we worked a lot on this release and thus, you can not only enjoy a fully free version, its even extended by some features! (and yes, it has some bugs ironed out as well)

If you use and like the AEC, please consider voting for it in the Extensions directory here on joomla.org. If you even care about supporting our development, please consider getting a paid membership on globalnerd.org!

What has changed since the stable was released on the 20th:

  • fixing bug where no user was effectively expired
  • Mosets Tree hacks fixed
  • missing language constants in CommunityBuilder MI
  • wrong display of "server not reachable" when using https
  • display of wrong "help" messages when old modules were not installed
  • MySQL error on install with duplicated "custom_params" field
  • fix display of "Dear %s[username]" on Pending screen
  • fix magic quotes problem with settings
  • fix situation where legacy hacks would be warned about on help page (even though they only potentially existed)
  • fix situation where saving settings would recurse indefinitely because the "None selected" option was selected
  • fix install bug that would try to create a settings column again and again
  • check for urls for http:// in backend (if NOT submitted)
  • check if NO NAME/Title is submitted at NEW plan
  • direct Frontend link (target _blank NOT inside the admin interface!)
  • fix for loading more than one MI on action
  • fix for always expiring one plan when upgrading to another (mainly for MI expiring action)
  • htaccess dirname correction
  • check for null array_merge - results in error in PHP5
  • JUGA MI
  • Acajoom MI (beta)
  • Plan Description now correctly saves html code
  • fixing IE problem where Processor button would not forward user
  • New Quicksearch function on Central Page, plus revamped look on that same page
  • Checking routine that makes sure there are no extra Configuration rows
  • New DisplayPipe feature that makes affiliate tracking that works on images a piece of cake
  • Fix for broken HTML in CC images code
  • User list now correctly redirects to active subscribers after a plan has been assigned
  • Fixing a bug where expiration action of MIs were not carried out
  • Google Analytics e-commerce Tracking (still experimental, please give feedback)
  • Post Affiliate PRO MI (beta)
  • Fix for Situation where user without subscription went through a one-plan one-processor situation on login
  • com_registration Hack #5 replaced by #6, the #5 Hack would not permit any other action like receiving lost passwords and such

Enjoy!

Oh and btw: This is already tested with 1.0.13 and works just fine with that. CB has its own problems with 1.0.13 at the moment, so this combination could have some issues. Please participate in our forums so that we can work on this together.

Its a component that you have to install from the joomla backend.

And no, its not Joomla 1.5 compatible, but I'm working on that.

I am still having problems with some of the file permissions and legacy hacks...I don't think it is the component, I think it is me...I don't get much time in one sitting to really figure it all out. I have not been able to get AEC to run on any of my sites with or without CB.

it looks nice though ;)

and oh yeah....these guys are awesome in there response via email...with or without a subscription....first rate coders

nice job guys....and thanks for your replys

Pretty soon, I will put most of the hacking functionality into a mambot/plugin, that will finally end this permission nightmare (you wont believe how much of my support is helping people come out of strange server file configurations).

And thanks :)

The development version of the upcoming 0.12.6 already works in legacy mode. There will be no non-legacy until 0.14 however. With a free registration on globalnerd, you can get a 1.5 compatible version right now!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure why, but I tried to create an account and when I go to login, the system says "incorrect username and password". ?? I've tried 3 times - even looked for email verification. Strange.

I've had a chance to play with AEC and have a question/suggestion -- Is it possible (or will it be possible in future versions) to charge a one-time set-up fee + a monthly subscription fee? for example: $99 one time + $19 month?

cybermind75: True thing, that does help ;)

One Time+ Monthly Fees combined:
No - this is planned, but there is no set arrival date for this feature.

However, you can try to use the restrictions workaround: Create one plan that costs Setup Fee+ Monthly Fee and another one with only the Monthly Fee. Then restrict access to the monthly fee only plan to users who have already paid for the initial plan once. That way, only users who have already paid the setup fee will be able to continue with the monthly payment. It will still be awkward for some users though and does not work with solutions like PayPal Subscriptions.

Well this is a very nice component and hope this also soon will be a J 1.5 native version.

For you that have not tried this subscription component pls do. There is a new site now http://www.valanx.org where you can sign up for a free membership to try the product. If you start using the product and want to contribute I recommend you to make a payment subscription to support future development of this great product!

All the best!

@skOre & @darb

i am facing a big problem in AEC new version of(Version 0.12.6) .I am not completed my subscription. It's goes to checkout steps fine but could not verify my account.
In site show a message >>>>>>

"
Quote:
Account Pending

Dear John,

Your account is pending or temporarily suspended. If you are in this state for more than some hours and your payment is confirmed, please contact the administrator of this web site.

It seems that you have an uncleared invoice in our database - If something went wrong along the way, you can go to the checkout page to try again: Go to the checkout page again, you may also cancel the payment (you will have the possibility to go to the Plan Selection screen once again): cancel
"

but in AEC control panel can not find any pending record. In "Manual Subscriber" i can find it but there is no "plan & Method"

Now I am testing only fresh joomla 1.5.14.No 3rd party component using this testing.

Finlay i am using cb & juga integration in my project
Please help me for this problem
