Since the last stable version, we have largely rebuild our code and if you have a look at our
full changelog here, you will see what I'm talking about. We have been working on this for
over half a year now and it really was about time for a stable version.
There have also been
changes to our website -
http://www.globalnerd.org - not only have we switched to a secure connection, we also got ourselves a little make-up. The other thing we changed was our
download policy. Since the AEC has grown a lot (and our customerbase as well - currently at 4,5k) we had to make a decision on which way we want to go with financing our development. Even before the big joomla GPL compliance discussion, we have decided that
we want to stick with the GPL and thus keep our software
free as in freedom. But we also made a clear decision about our price tag - it will stay at exactly zero.
However, since we offer subscriptions to support or work and get higher priority support on globalnerd, we decided to put up one little restriction: With every new release, there will be a
short introduction period (stable releases 10 days, development releases 5 days) in which the release is
only available to paying subscribers. Should there be more than a hundred subscribers in that period of time, we will end this period earlier. There is a counter for this on globalnerd if you wonder what is going on.
So, if you are interested in finding out our new version and care to support our work, just
head over to globalnerd.org and check it out!
