Hello everyone,
Is there an Online TV component? There's a regional television channel and I'd like to broadcast it from my Joomla site. Any ideas guys?

Also,
Can an online radio station be set thru. Joomla? If not then is there any other script available?

Also,
Is it possible to put the news feed on the front page. I want a table of contents on the front page displaying only the headlines. The links will go to a new page.

Thanks

There's a SAM broadcast option but it's not free and not a Joomla component either.

1st question do they stream this TV signal already?
2nd be careful because rebroadcasting over the net can be punishable if they catch you doing it without permission...

As to how to do it it is no more complicated than creating a static content item, going into HTML mode of the editor and placing the code that will stream the feed...

Same for the Radio feed...

But they both need to be streamable feeds if not you will have to run some sort of streaming encoder on both feeds and that is not something that Joomla itself can do...

Trying to stream TV through a website is pretty much impossible, due to the amount of data that would be have to be sent, you would need to be a big corporation like goolge to stream 24hrs 7 Days a week,

In regard to the Radio check out http://www.xtremeradio.org we use a the Mambo CMS but that doesnt really matter, we use the Ogg Vorbis format to stream our radio, we dont use SAM, even though i do recommend SAM, Ogg is free though!

:D

Not entirely true Jon....

It really depends on how many users you expect to serve with the stream...
A typical web server is capable of sending about 10 streams if it has a decent connection....

It's not until you get to the area of 50 concurrent connections that a dedicated server is really needed and over 100 concurrent before a peering and regionalized serve is required.

I don't suggest anyone stream from their web server though...It will tie up traffic on your website, make PHP execute slower and above all streaming any network you don't own is likely to get you sued!
