I have been discussing SEO with several other site devs over the past few weeks.  The discussions have basically centered around the changing character of so many websites, especially those implementing the "Adsense" from Google.

Overall, the conversation has focused on the deteriorating content on large numbers of sites where "Adsense" is being applied.  Maybe I should say abused.

We all naturally agree we enjoy the income from "Adsense", but there are so many new abuses of SEO to position sites well for maximizing "Adsense" income for Google and site developers.

Google is pushing out thousands of ads to enhance their revenue stream, and relevancy of information on sites and Google adsense is definitely a plus for advertisers to maximize their advertising dollar.

In the process,  Google makes money,  sites with relevant information that reaches advertisers best choice of potential customers are making money, and the advertisers are getting more bang for their buck.

Relevant is beginning to take on a new definition with respect to the Google Adsense campaigns.

Simply explained, site devs are using creative SEO techniques to maximize the advertising income from their sites. Techniques that are  using many subtle methods to get their sites favorably indexed with the search engines.  The Google is naturally the front runner search engine, and SEO methods to maximize Google positioning is a priority for site devs seeking income from their sites.

One good SEO example for favorable positioning with Google is to apply unique content to websites.  Google search bots love to see  Unique content, but that doesn't necessarily mean... sensible content.

One tool being widely used is Re-Write Content tools, which re-write existing content extracted/stolen from other sites.  This has become very abusive, yet Google advises how they are interested in positioning sites with unique content more favorably.  How the heck, does the Google Spider Bot know what is good content?

I even read a posting on an SEO forums, where the poster was taking content from other sites.  Running the content through an English to Russian translator software, then from Russian back to English.  Filtering the content in this fashion makes enough difference in the content to be considered by the Google and other bots as unique content.  Then translation process turns the content into verbal goolash, but it is unique.  LOL

Think about how lousy the responses you are now receiving when you enter a Google search.  One of my friends I refer to as party to these discussions is a MSFT tech support person.  MSFT support has supplemented their knowledgbase for technical support for many years using the Google search for additional complex support issues in the past.  The practice of using Google as a supplemental tool for dealing with complex support issues is practically non-existent as a time saver tool today.

It has become common practice now for support issue answers to be concealed by site developers.  Site developers striving to enhance their indexing postions know to access the freely available tools to enhance SEO.  They can evaluate words and phrases through the keyword tools, and determine the popularity of specific words and phrases used by searchers using Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.

The keywords and keyword phrases have fast become a weak indicator of meaningful information actually being available on the site pointed to at the high index value page.  Personally, I've entered search keywords in the search to resolve issues.  When I got to the various sites on the first few pages of the Google page often I have to click around or search through many sites and pages to find what I thought was viable  information.  Interesting enough, frequently when I do find an access point---> it is a link to another site.  LOL

Is there a solution/s to this self feeding mechanism of information pollution?

I have additonal points for discussion on this issue.  I'm stopping here to see if the topic is meaninful enough for a competent discussion.

I would be glad to have this discussion as a part of a competent blog site that has similar apprehensions about the denigration of the seach engine solution pages we all use so often.  So... if you want to use this on your blog, do it.  Just give us a link to further the comments and conversation.

Hey Domineaux,

I'm surprised that no one of yet has responded to your concerns.
Well, I by no means am an expert in SEO or site development, but I'm currently on a small team developing a few archive websites for a local publisher. The sites will contain thousands of articles of real content, and the publisher wants to deliver adsense ads throughout the sites.

Like everyone else, I've been to those nonsensical gibberish pages that have words and phrases relative to my search term, but offer no real content. I've even been solicited by the authors of programs that will generate hundreds, if not thousands, of web pages based upon a particular keyword or phrase.

You know, although we all think of Google as a tool, it's still first and foremost a business. And for the majority of it's users, the main product that it delivers is search results. Therefore, it's in Google's best interest to continue to develop methods that will filter out the "goulash" pages merely designed around PPC, and make sure that the users of the search engine are given real content. Otherwise, Google will begin to slowly lose "customers" to any search engine that can implement successful filtering better than Google. I'm already using Ask.com more frequently than ever before.

I'm sure the guys at Google realize this, and are probably at constant war with the unscrupulous devs that serve up goulash in hopes of getting click revenue.

So I guess it' out of our hands, Dom. Some people will always resort to a bit of chicanery when there's profit to be made. Google will just have to get better at staying one or two steps ahead of them.
