Hello everyone,

this is the description of the issue:
Quote:
One line summary
Write a document on how to replace the logo image in the Milkyway template.

Description
The document should cover the process for the benefit of someone without
prior experience of Joomla! or PHP, HTML, CSS. It should suggest a suitable
tool to use to create a new image and should show a step-by-step procedure,
with annotated screenshots, of a new image being created using an open
source image editor such as The Gimp. It should then show, again with
annotated screenshots, the process of uploading the new image to the
correct location within Joomla!

The document should comply with current Joomla! Editorial Style Guidelines
and guidelines for the Template Tutorials Project.

Documentation written for this task must be made available under the
Joomla! Electronic Documentation License.

Skills Needed
Using an open source image editor to create an image of a specific size.

Difficulty
Basic.

Work Product
Document as described above.

Extra Credit (optional)
Write additional documentation covering the same procedure for the Beez
template and the winner of the template contest (to be announced).

Time Limit
1 week.

This is my first issue, so I have some questions:
  • Do I have to write the document in OpenOffice.org, and in what format do I have to save it? .odt?
  • Where can I get the milkyway theme, or is this just the default theme my fresh joomla! install has? (rhuk_solarflare_ii)
  • I wouldn't mind translating the document to dutch as well, so if this is desirable, let me know.

In the meanwhile, I will start reading the editorial style guide.

Google Task
[me=AmyStephen]Changed subject slightly for sorting all threads to match against Google resource  :)[/me]

Milky Way is a default theme for Joomla! 1.5.
You should work in Joomla! 1.5.

Translation is great for extra credit.

We're thinking about your format question and will post shortly.

Thanks. I now installed v1.5. The logo that has to be changed is the joomla logo in the top left corner right? It has to be changed to a custom logo, created with the GIMP, and it has to have the same dimensions?

Translation will be taken care of  ;)

Regarding you format question: We would like your contest entry to be in OpenOffice Writer's native format (.odt).  That is, unless you can convince us that some other format would be more appropriate.  :)

Good luck!
Chris.

I have the first version. Translation will follow, but i'd like some feedback first.
Where do I have to upload the file? It is too large for an attachment on this forum...

Can you try at the google site? And then paste a link here if it works. If it doesn't work, we'll come up with something .... right Chris???

Absolutely!  We'll find a way.  Just let Elin, Amy or myself know if you have any problem uploading.

Chris.

I like it!

Don't forget: Joomla!, Google, and [youtube] should be capitalized!

Thank you :D
I added the dutch translation and the new version. Also corrected some spelling errors:
http://code.google.com/p/google-highly- ... %20Summary

What should I do about the Beez template? It is almost the same thing, so what about just integrating a paragraph "for beez"??

I added the final version, with the Beez and other templates information, and the dutch translation on the google page.
I hope you like it...

Can I consider this one closed??

Right now it is under review. We will respond as soon as we can, but it will take a little time.

Just noticed a couple more things you might want to change.

In the first paragraph:
Quote:
Change “fill with option” to transparency.
should be
Quote:
Change the "fill with" option to "transparency".

In the 2nd to the last box:
Quote:
...the logo's location up by rightclicking on the logo...
I think right-click is hyphenated.  Also, do you want to mention that GIMP is open source, because it was in the issue description.

Good luck passing the review (sorry I just made it harder for you  :-\)

You are doing exactly what a strong contributor does in a community. It is very much appreciated and you are a role model for others. Thanks for all the feedback and involvement you have provided. It is very encouraging!

Amy :)

Indeed, thank you! I adjusted it already on my offline version, and I will upload it again once the final review is completed.

deckers.olivier has called for a final review. If we could please have community members read through this work and provide feedback, it would be much appreciated!

Amy :)

I am sorry we let this sit since December 4th.

That is beautiful work you have done - and you have also made it available in Dutch!  :-*

Wonderful job! This is accepted and you are free to take another task.

We will try not to make you wait so long, next time.

Amy :)
