Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success...

Better with pizza ;)

I'd love to see a "recipes" section, a place to drop useful information about specific Joomla! installs. I know, I know, there are other priorities, but you asked for suggestions :p

Crikey, someone reads my blogs!  I'd better be careful what I say in future.  ;)

Actually, I think butter is the thing for polar explorers.  Not as tasty, but more calories.  ;)

I think that's a really good idea.  I'll add it to the wiki now.  Looking at the statistics for the help site we know that installation is the single most important topic that people look for.

Hope you can join us.
Chris.

Did I understand correctly that one of the Joomla! Doc Camp participants will be eligible for up to $1,000,000 USD?

I'm in! Let me know what's needed.

Amy :)

Where on Earth did you get that idea from, Amy?

Chris.

I think I read it somewhere - maybe it was a tongue-in-cheek comment I wrote on my blog.  ??? Can't remember, I read so many things.

I think the "up to" part has a bit of wiggle room and even allows for the real prize of the "warm satisfaction that comes from knowing you helped."

Either that, or donations have really picked up around here.

Don't kick me out, please.  :'(
Amy :)

Can you direct me how to get involved?

Like step 1, step 2, etc? I've never worked with a wiki before, so it's a bit new for me. I do remember reading about the modular documentation, so I understand how this works with that idea.

This is such a bad time for me, as this is my first week back in school! And I have two sites to work on! But I want to stay connected! So I will float about on the periphery. I can't miss out on such an important first-off event!

I have signed up at docs.joomla.org but don't know what to do next.

Ivanicus and I would like to volunteer to work on documentation with overrides. We would gear it to more designer types. Is that OK?

Also, Chris, are you still wanting to pursue personas? Is it to late to work a survey in? Can you connect me with a programmer to help devise questions?

Since the timing of this is so off (at least for me, I only learned about the the documentation event the day before!!), perhaps we can incorporate this as an ongoing survey that lives past this documentation event. If we can get eyeballs on a survey so everyone knows that it is there and gather input from Joomla folks of all stripes, then we can design personas into a more streamlined process that should be more accurate. What say you?

Best,

madamep

BTW Chris, I didn't know that you were into handbags? Do people still use those things?  ;)

please have a look at this page in the same wiki: http://docs.joomla.org/index.php?title=Doc_Campers_Start_Here
It gives detailed information how to get started, links to overview-pages of to be written articles, etc.

It would be nice to take advantage of the main Doc Camp we have, these forums. Some boards would be JEDLed and mods would ask authors about "wikifying" their posts or do it on their behalf (like it used to be with the FAQs posts).
