It would be great that joomla! can make link from Author name and when you click on some author you get a list of all articles that author made, or that you open some page with more info about author.

This is a simple task that improves the user experience greatly. I waited to see this feature in Joomla! 1.5. Still not there :( . There are quite a few requests for this feature. They are all in the "feature request - Archive" category. Please include this as part of the core Joomla!.

This could be achieved by installing CB and few plugins. :o Its insane to install CB just for this basic feature.

Thanks in Advacne.

I think it's important, if enabled the author's name view, to see a dedicated "link from Author name and when you click on some author you get a list of all articles that author made".

A CMS is focused on content and we have special modules for "suggesting other contents", such as lastest news, popular news, the last articles in that category and so on... but we haven't a way for suggesting other contents by the same author / mind / point of view etc. etc.

You can use another module by authors or simply by a linked name of that authors, why not?!

The focus in that case is still on contents (if you need more and more you have to use a community system) and the author issue is a special "tagging system" for our contents!

actually there should be 2 options!

  • Link to a page with all articles of the same author
  • Link to the author's profile
  • Alternatively a link to the author's profile, where his articles are listed too (see CB-Profile)

or maybe you can have a link to the search component... when you click on your displayed author name on your article you could have a link to search component with listed all articles made by that author... in this case the work done for obtaining a result like that in the next joomla 1.6 would be very minimal!

I have been looking for something like this. I would personally like to have the link go to the author profile. Included in that profile would be a list of articles they have written.

Does anyone know if such a third party module exists currently?

I've just found this:

Author Details Plugin
Developer: Ercan Özkaya
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/

This plugin shows user details and other articles of the current one’s author. It’s very configurable and has a lot of parameters to suit different needs. It uses optional Mootools effects. The contact e-mail is encrypted using Javascript in order to avoid search engines indexing it. You can visit the homepage for screenshots. Note that this is the first beta release of the plugin and any feedback is appreciated. For now, available in English and Turkish. Translations are welcome. Joomla! 1.5 only.

thanx a lot The Ant for your plug-in - waiting for a solution in joomla 1.6, well, now, we can consider this one as a sort of transitional "remedy"...

For Joomla 1.0.15 you could use MosAuthor XTD if somebody would find a way to set a link to the corresponding community builder profile.

If somebody could solve that, it'd be perfect :pop :)

From the comment on http://www.joomlaexpert.com/index.php?o ... llComments

Usage instructions : Kagome
Well that's truth... But after reading more you get it.

1st you must choose the positions

1: First Line of Content
2: Last Line of Content
3: In Title
4: Replace original "Written-by"

In the left side of the configuration you have 4 blocks... lets say that I want to 4: Replace original "Written-by"... so

I go to the 4th box I choose Full View e put the tags
#authorcname# on #created# (#hits# hits).

And in the 1st line of content (1st box) I want my avatar (#authorimage#).

To see your image you must upload it to the image directory.... mine is /joomla/images/stories/
Now you go to Componentes>Contacts and create with your name and Link to your Username... on tab Images select your avatar... and now is ready. ^^

Thanks, but this doesn't help to show the author's articles!

CB-profiles provide such a list, the contact form doesn't.

Regards,
Taiko

thinking again of an author articles list, in the content page panel we should have a linked author name option, when activated that link has to show a new page (please not a mootools "magic" box) with that list, now I think a special piece os software from the category component, in that case you see not a single category but a single author... 8)

I strongly support the development of links to articles by an author, and links to the authors profile. Seems rather an obvious need! :)

Hello, I really need to link all my authors with a separate e-mail and their stories. I saw a "author details" module, but that is just for 1.5.

About this argument I think it'd be interesting to know how this "problem" will be "solved" as there are sundry "options" for doing that... :pop

Has anyone hack the current search plugins to return articles based on authors?
http://docs.joomla.org/How_to_create_a_search_plugin

Unfortunately, I do not know enough computing to change the search query coding for it. Any help would be useful. I managed to get make a search-author plugin and installed it. Hence have included 'authors' as one of the search areas. But unfortunately, I got the search query coding wrong.
