I have waited Joomla 1.0.6 for days! Still no MySQL 5 support?

As stated in the roadmap, MySQL will probably be supported in the 1.1 release

Is there anything I can do to have Joomla working with MySQL 5 in the meantime?

I'm not sure.
Maybe there's something here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg156917
If you do a search on MySQL 5, you'll find lots of other treads that might be of use.

edit
Here's another one: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,23659.0.html
(oops... didn't see Tonie's post)

You can read this thread. When checking the Joomla 1.0.6 files, which will be rereleased because of an SVN packaging function, I see the following file /includes/database.mysql5.php. I haven't heard from Masterchief yet, but my guess is that you would have to rename database.php to something else and then rename the database.mysql5.php to database.php.

That's what I did (after installing Joomla); but got following error...

Code:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method mosSession::_setSchema() in D:\...\wwwroot\includes\database.php on line 757

Do you think I have to install Joomla again; but, renaming the database.mysql5.php to database.php, before?

Best regards,

Jorge.-

Do you mean the package I have recently (a couple of minutes ago) downloaded from joomla.org is not official or has bugs?

Something went wrong with the SVN packaging function.

Oh, man... then, there is a light of hope having Joomla running with MySQL 5!

Could you test it? Some workaround on Joomla with MySQL 5?

I had the same problem with MySQL 5.0.16 and joomla 1.0.7. I renamed the database.mysql5.php to database.php, but I got the same error with the missing "method mosSession::_setSchema()" or (without php error-reporting) a blank site.

After some hard minutes testing and debugging, I found the correct method at the database.mysql5.php.
The setSchema-method is there (some lines above 757), but I think there is a problem with the name. The getSchema-method is named like &_MethodName, but the setSchema-method comes without the &_. After I renamed the setSchema-method to &_setSchema everything works fine with mysql 5.0.16 ...

I have no time at the moment to figure out everything at my site, but what I saw that works good.

Could you please describe your tests to replicate them here?

Best regards,

Jorge.-

I basically had to remove 'Strict' mode in the Mysql file my.ini. I now have a default install with no content or components, but this works without problems. I will first have to create my content migration script to go from Mysql 4.0.x --> Mysql 5 and from character set Latin to UTF.

Yes, that's what I did some time ago. I had to set error level to none, too, to avoid several warnings. I am still having some troubles with 3rd. party modules such SimpleFAQ 2.11 (not neccesarily related with SQL 5, but, probably).

the problem is due to a couple of bugs in database.mysql5.php (to be renamed database.php).
  • in line 741, the function setSchema() should be renamed to _setSchema()
  • in line 755 - function _getSchema() - the & must be removed

my versions:
  • Win XP SP2
  • mySQL 5.0.17-nt
  • Joomla! v1.0.7

Thank you corrected and will be available in 1.0.8

For future reference, please report bugs here:
