Hi all,

I have a Joomla based website up and running which I've submitted to Google about a month ago. But Google doesn't seem to be crawling my website all these days. When I type the site's name like "mywebsite.com" as a search phrase in Google's search box, I just see a single result which happens to be the one where I registered my domain name. I expected atleast one result that links to my homepage (www.mywebsite.com), but that's not what I see.

I use Joomla 1.5. Can somebody suggest a good statistics collector that I can incorporate into my website. My idea is that with statistics enabled, I can atleast check if GoogleBot or any other search robot is listed anywhere in the stat logs. If there is a good Joomla extension for collecting statistics, please let me know.

By the way, my URLs are all search friendly. I use the sh404SEF Joomla extension.

Pls advice!

Google is not a God,that it will crawal every 1000 new sites, which are released every 1 sec.
You need to allure Google by submitting your site's Sitemap and add Google Analytics and Meta data verification..
So overall, just have a try with Google Webmaster Tools.
You will get your site indexed in a good time, but but but, make sure, you have unique contents and URLs..

Thanks everyone for your pointers..
Now, what exactly does "digging a site" mean?

I've generated a sitemap for my website and submitted that to Google two days ago. Hoping that it helps.

Explore your own web site and find related keywords.

Bonjour,

If I may add to and expand on the above suggestions: :)

Make absolutely certain, before you do any of the following, that you have pertinent and descriptive descriptions and keywords entered in the Global Configuration > Site > Metadata Settings. So many times I have seen Google search results with the default Joomla! values :)

1) Set up a Google Webmaster Account (GWA)
2) Verify the site with the GWA
3) If your hosting provider does not offer this service (mine does), go here and create a 'sitemap' and then submit the resultant file with GWA
4) Create a Google Analytics Account (GAA), get the resultant generated code and place it in the index.php of the DEFAULT TEMPLATE (and any other templates you may have "assigned") just before the closing </body> tag
5) If you and your site qualify, set up a Google AdSense Account and get this extension, this extension, and this extension and install and set them up.

Your mileage may vary, but the last site I set up was indexed within 3 days using the above. And a recent change to the meta tags was refreshed and displayed within about the same time frame.

Cheers!
Lyle

I'm also not clear what the phrase 'digging your site' means. Is there a particular means of doing this?

The best way to be listed in google is to try to submit your site to the popular directories and mean while do forum commenting.
