Hi,

I'm building a Joomla site for a project - http://www.asianaustralian.org.  It's going to be for a journal/magazine.  The journal will have editions - starting once per six months, increasing in frequency depending on the submissions and how much it's read.  I've done a little bit of work, but have a few questions.

I want to have categories (interviews, fiction, non-fiction, etc etc) but have these categories be available for each edition - so that edition one may have one or more categories of article, and edition two the same, and that, for example, fiction can be grouped by all editions, and also that any edition can display all categories in that edition.  Is there any guidance as to the best way to do this?  I know how to in Xaraya, but Xaraya's interface ... leaves something to be desired.  I'm putting this together for non-technical people, and Joomla's admin interface is easily the best here.

For each edition, is there an easy way to get a table of contents automatically generated, say, on the right-hand menu list (below the poll in the currently-used template would be nice).  I can easily make each edition on the front page, and then remove from the front page for the next edition... so a list (that I can organise!) of all the front page articles would do.  I expect about ten or so items per edition, so the "Current Articles" section I've got isn't big enough.

Is there a module/component that shows the number of times each thing's been read somewhere in/near the title of the article?  I got used to this in PostNuke, and miss it so far.

I've modified a free template already, but does anyone know of a good template for this?  Ideally, something that does not use fixed-width tables.  Every one I've found - even the ones that say they're variable width - uses fixed width tables.

We figure people will email in their submissions.  Is there any way we can make space available for registered users to just upload their article into a shared space. but be unable to change or see their article until we publish?

I think that's it for now.  Thanks in advance.

Alister

Hi,

I'd seen it, but can't find a demo that gives me a sense of whether it'll suit what I'm trying to do.  I don't want to buy the module unless I can be sure it'll work.

Thanks,

Alister

eZine is the open source predecessor to the commercial iJoomla iMagazine component.

Download here:
eZine v1.9 - the Open Source Version
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,48533.0.html

You can install and test that version all you want.
