The Joomla! Forum ™

On August 17th Joomla will be 1 years old. So why dont we arrange to have a joomla birthday party.

The idea is that people all over the world gather in pubs, bars, restaurants, starbucks and pizza shops at the sime time on the same day.

I have registered the domain joomlaparty.com for the purpose so that the site can be used for people to volunteer to organise a party in their locality.

They will create a page saying where the party will be held and at what time.

Then people can register on the site and say which party they will be attending.

We can also make available joomla t-shirts which have the party venue on them. (We have an online t-shirt printing company that can do that on demand). Perhaps even a competition to design the best t-shirt?

The party organiser really has to do nothng more than stand up and say I am prepared to book a table at xxxx restaurant/bar/coffeshop/beach/hotel for xx o'clock

Hopefuly then once it is up and running the whole joomlaparty process should run itself.

Of course if the venue has a wifi connection we could even have webcams etc to report live from each venue

After the event joomlaparty.com will host photos of the events as well as reports etc.

We can even have a competition for the best photo featuring a joomla party t-shirt in a unique location.


So the first step right now is to ask for a few volunteers to help design and create the website.

Lets show the world what a great, united and globaly distributed community Joomla! is!!

Sounds great.  Was holding out for a "JoomlaCon" somewhere on the other side of the pond this summer, but was just a blatant excuse to mix vacation with "site-seeing" and demos and geeking out and whatnot...

My vote is to bring back the infamous JBIRD as the mascot.

This is just a fun gathering, a chance to get together in a social environment and meet other joomla users.
