I'm not sure if this is *ambo/Joomla related, but all of sudden the fonts becomes into Italic in my browser (IE/Firefox). I was working with my Joomla site all the time, then all of sudden this happens. Even now if I go to  http://www.google.com, I got the Italic fonts for everything.

Did I screw up something?

If it affected both IE and Firefox it sounds more like a system setting.

Right-click on the desktop and click "properties".

Click the "Appearance" tab.

Click the "Advanced" button.

There is where all the system settings are for fonts, I'm not sure if it is related to your browser problem.

Have you tried rebooting the computer? You never know when a simple reboot sometimes solves a lot. ;)

since it affected all sites and not just your Rambo/Joomla! site, it's your computer.  It's not the browsers either since both are affected.

I have the same problem. All suddenly everthing is in italic.

(edit)
It was on my end. The only way I found to fix the problem was to do a system restore on my computer. I just restored it to the day before and everything seems to work fine now.

Ok, did a quick google on this...

Answer is: The arial font somehow went missing, became corrupt, or was replaced. It then defaults to the next font...which is Airal Italic. (I'm thinking that with may people having the same problem... is there something in the intall of MSAS that overwrites the arial True Type font?).

Replace the standard arial font with a clean one... and all fixed. (1st you have to delete the one in the fonts folder then copy the new one over)

try deleting cookies, temporary internet files & history, plus reset web settings and restore defaults through Internet Properties.

if it doesnt solve the problem go to Internet Properties again and under the general tab click on the Font button.
select the following:
Language script: Latin based
Web page font: Times New Roman
Plain text font: Courier New

The fix was posted.. it's the arial font being replaced by the MSAS installation.

Yes, same thing happened to me today.  I downloaded the manual installer for MSAS from their site, ran the installer and - hey presto! - my Arial font appeared italic all over the place (mostly in Office), which generated a fair amount of head-scratching and Rough Language.

Thanks to various kindly souls here and at the Other Place, I discovered the cause and how to fix it, although my fix was to uninstall MSAS completely - who needs it?

My recommendation is don't bother with MSAS at all.  After 20 years in Unix-based IT, I'm afraid I just have no patience at all with the kind of Windozy hacking that has a "simple" package installation screwing around with your OS folders any more than strictly necessary, even in this relatively trivial manner.

There are plenty of other free WAMP packages that don't mess up your fonts e.g. EasyPHP or XAMPP, and Mambo/Joomla itself is a piece of cake to install (congrats to the developers on that one!), so why bother with MSAS at all?

PS:  Just installed XAMPP + Joomla with no problems at all http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,14555.msg93367.html#msg93367
