Background:

Running Joomla on a Windows 2003 Dual Xeon processor machine with 2GB memory, using apache 2.0.55 and PHP 5.0.4 with MySql 4.1.

Problem:

I have tried every free editor known to man for Joomla.  They all work but it takes at least 3+ minutes for an article to load.  When we first tested Joomla with a handful of articles everything worked very fast but we have since loaded the Db with 6800 articles and now the editor is painfully slow.  It is not usable for the end user to edit documents.  We have done every suggestion for slow performance and nothing helps.  Can anyone provide any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for your help

The amount of articles iin a db shouldnt affect the load performance when editing content.

What version of Joomla! are you using?

We  are using Version 1.0.8.

It turns out it is not the Java editor at all but the GET when requesting to edit an article.

Here is part of the view source for the edit content.  It is building into the source every image and article for all content.  This is 1966 - 2004 apprx. 6800 articles and 4 times that for images creating a file that is 8MB in size.  Your suggestions are appreciated.
