New Users No Longer Recieving Confirmation Emails To Confirm Their Own Accounts??????

This only happens when trying to use emails @yahoo.com so far and some other users are experiencing this problem as well.

The only thing I can think that has changed is the title of the pages which is really long now.  Would that be enough to get rejected entirely before even getting to an email box?

Any Imput Greatly Appreciated.

Phil

I just tested it again with a YAHOO email address and it will not come through at all, then I tested it with one of my own domain emails and it came through and worked as it is supposed to.

Does anyone know why yahoo is not allowing the account verification emails through, they are not even going into the spam box, they are not getting to the email box at all.

It appears to be more then just Yahoo.  Tons of new user sign ups have not been able to active their accounts because of thie problem and I don't understand why this is happening since 9/9/05.  Like I said I tried it with one of my own domain emails and it worked.  I don't understand what is going on.

Sigh,

Phil

Well since there hasn't really been any replys so far I am going to temporarly disable "Use New Account Activation:" so that new users can actually log in while I try to figure out what is going on here.

The only thing that sucks about doing this is, if a user uses an email address that is not valid it will still work, which eliminates being able to gather a customer database of first, last, and email addresses.

Hi,

I think I am experiencing the same problem with 1 or 2 sites that I maintain. I will test this later today or tomorrow and give some ffedback here. Will also look on the forums to see if it's been reported before.

Right on man much appreciated that you posted and are looking into a solution to this anoying problem.  My guess is that email addresses at domains such as yahoo, aol, or any other big companies that have spam cop/spam blocker type programs, are not allowing the verification emails to even come into the in boxes of the users that signed up.

Will let you know also if I find anything else out.

Thanks again,

Phil

Hi,

Sofar tested with creating an account with yahoo mail. No emails being received. Starting to think the same, spam blocker not even letting the email through. Will test with my own ISP to verify later.

I've put up 2 different sites in the past couple of days that also exhibits this problem with activation emails.
Contact Us emails seem to work as well as mass emailing. It's only the activation emails that don't seem to be working.

Thanks Rey,

'Didn't fully test yet, so glad to see it's a bug. So I won't need to test any further  ;)

Thanks Stingrey for letting us know that this problem is a known bug.  Also thanks to RobInk for doing some testing trying to get to the bottom of this issue.

However is this a known bug with Mambo 4.5.2. ?  That's what my site is built with so If there is any known way to fix this issue please let me know.

Thanks again,

Phil

Ok, I am guessing because of the no response to my post that asked about Mambo v.4.5.2., that there is no fix for Mambo v.4.5.2. for this known bug/problem.

So my next question, does Mambo 4.5.2. upgrade to Joomla latest stable version easily?  Or does it have to be an entirely seperate fresh install?

Knowledge greatly appreciated,

Phil

cradleofphil when you are asking questions here for goodnes sake remember a couple of things.

1. State what version of $ambo or Joomla you are running. Not much point saying nothing then having people go testing on Joomla and then having you say ... Oh I'm still on $ambo 4.5.2

2. Show some respect for the fact that people aren't sitting here waiting for your questions to arrive so they can be answered immediately.
Your effort below does little more than antagonise people, have some patience.

Um, absolutely no harm was ment what so ever.  I appologize yerg, if my posts made you feel like I am impatient and or disrespectful, but I assure you that is not that case.  Yes, in the future all posts will have Mambo/Joomla version stated first thing.

Again, I appreciate all of you in the open source community very much!  I have a great amount of respect for the creaters of such wonderful, powerful, open source, content managment systems software.

I plan on upgrading my site to Joomla soon, but I will for sure be backing up everything first.  A personal thanks to benebrady for that really helpful page on upgrading, cheers!

Phil

I can't see this page...I guess I need to register, but don't see a place to register.    I've burned SO many hours trying to solve this stupid problem. Someone please help!  I'm using Joomla 1.0.13

The site use to send out new member verification emails just fine...all of a sudden it won't.  Contact form works just fine.  I have tried sending php, smtp, and sendmail.  Configuration.php file was setup as well. Nothing works...
