Hello

I have installed joomla 1.0.10 using Cpanel fantastico in four sites. In two sites the user menu shows correctly after login.
In the other two  sites the user menu does not show after login and there is no logout button and the login form
remains visible.  How can i fix this problem or get more information about how to fix it.

Help please!
Heidi

Hi Heidi,

I had a similar problem in the past, and could solve it by changing the live site setting in the configuration.php file of Joomla. You should find somethink like :

Code:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://alexhokamp.com';

or
Code:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.alexhokamp.com';

around Line 44.

It should be set to where you do not have the "WWW" in your URL. Looking like this:

Code:
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://alexhokamp.com';

I hope this will solve your problem ...

Alex ...

Hello Alex

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately did not solve my problem. When i remove the www i get error 403, 'Not authorised to view this page' and after refresh etc,  the user menu still does not show. In another site where the user menu does show, the www is present in the live_site variable.

Hope someone can solve this for me
Heidi

Heidi,

Are these all on the same hosting provider?  Same server?  Same Operating System?  I think there might be a connection with this behavior and people using Windows + IIS servers.  It would be useful to know more about your configuration.

Hello Rob

All my sites are hosted on a Linux server at Siteground.com.

After i changed a proxy setting on my IE 6 explorer (as per a previous post in this thread) my user menu started showing and online counter now works correctly. However many users out there still have the problem. I have only experienced this problem with my sites that have international domains (.net and .com). Local domain sites eg (.co.za) work perfectly. As i mentioned before all my sites are hosted with same isp. I also only have the probelm when connect via ADSL. If i connect via GPRS the user menu works fine.

If you can help  and need more info i can provide you with access to my sites and whatever other info you need.

Thanks
Heidi

Q&T Note; marking this topic as UNDER REVIEW. Seems to be one out of a many with the known login issue.

Please check the following proposed fix http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,106665.0.html

Q&T Note; marking this as a DUPLICATE report and linking it to another report. Moving to Resolved.
