Documentation for development

Post by apc » Fri Dec 30, 2005 8:28 am

Hello,

Just wanted to say first that Joomla is a truly awesome application with an equally awesome community  :D

Where can I find any documentation required in order to develop mambots, components and modules?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi apc,

Welcome to the community. :)

The official developer documentation is here: http://help.joomla.org/content/section/12/125/.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for your response and for the reference to the excellent documentation which looks very comprehensive.

Are there any plans to make the documentation into a PDF file?

One of the first things I would like to do is to create a Joomla component/module/bot that can take text from external sources, e.g. RSS, and create Joomla content pages on the fly, specifying what sections they will go in etc..  Is this something that can be done, and if so would it be a com, module or bot?

I have many other plans beyond that  :D

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

We hope to do this at some point in the future, but it is not at the top of the priority list at the moment.  We are currently concentrating on increasing the amount of documentation available as this is likely to be of more benefit to the community than making the same stuff available in a different format.

I would suggest searching the Joomla! Forge here: http://developer.joomla.org as it may be that someone else has already done something like this and it could save you a lot of work.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the information.

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 and would be pleased to create PDF documentation from your online documentation when appropriate to do so. Please let me know at some point if that would be of use.

Best regards,

Adrian.
