so I thought, someone else is using Pervasive around here and so must have known Tango.hnoel wrote:Tango is very much alive. I used it before Pervasive bought Tango from the company founders up in Canada. Another company bought Tango from Pervasive a couple of years ago.unity wrote: Sorry folks - both Samba and Tango are out.
TANGO - was an application development platform owned by Pervasive, based on PostgresSQL. Looks to be discontinued - also Siemans has a trademark on the Tango name for diagnostic tool for broadband.
Thier website is at http://www.witango.com/content.taf
I really miss using Tango. My team and I did alot of rapid prototyping using it. Now, if I could use Tango to create components, that would be fun. :-)

Well, okay, it reminds of Sybian...... :P
The community probably wouldn't have any trademark problems with the bucking-bronco sex toy maker (the products are different enough), but your suggested name would probably get a reaction from Symbian, the phone OS company.

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
The other suggeston I have is:
Microcosm:
From http://www.m-w.com
Main Entry: mi·cro·cosm
Pronunciation: 'mI-kr&-"kä-z&m
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Medieval Latin microcosmus, modification of Greek mikros kosmos
1 : a little world; especially : the human race or human nature seen as an epitome of the world or the universe
2 : a community or other unity that is an epitome of a larger unity
The definitions seem an apt description of what has happened to the community, and how the community has rallied around the core devs.
I have a bad habit of naming my drives on my studio box strange names and Microcosm is one of them.

I think cOSMos is a really good name, but here are my ideas:
Amity <-- I like this the mostest
Reborn
Affinity
Ok.. I was cheating a little with this synonym dictionary: http://dico.isc.cnrs.fr/dico/en/search

cOSMos is good. I also like MelodyCMS, OSM-CMS (or just OSM). Keep'em coming!
This is one of those times where I wish I took Latin in high school so I could come up with interesting new words to use for projects like this. lol

Hello !
I think it is important to see in the new name what is the original project.
I propose this one :
Mamba

Re: Poll for the new CMS name
True... but I don't think that matters so much unless it's a tradmarked name of another software product. Mambo.com was certaintly taken long beore the Mambo CMS was invented, so MamboServer.com was used. No reason we can't do the same hereMambodesigner wrote: OSM is already taken, when looking up doamin names......

I'd just leave it up to whatever PR/marketing people the dev team selects to choose it.
That's certainly catchy for bloggers and hobbyists but it's also precisely the sort of amateurishness that makes companies cringe when considering an investment in open source software. Btw, if the naming and organization used appears to be professional, larger websites (which attract the most attention) will be less likely to hide the fact they are using Mambo.enjoy777 wrote:Nice name and good descriptionTomH wrote: and as wikipedia told me - the dance 'mambo' evolved into 'salsa'

How about call it "PalladumCMS"
"The Palladium dance hall on 53rd Street and Broadway. It was called the Home of The Mambo"

cOSMos is great!I think the new name should be international, should be related to the common terms. What I like most of the suggestions made above is "cOSMos". It´s short and has "osm", "mos" and "os" in it. Also a lot of associativitys are possible:
-free
-unlimited
-everyone lives in it, everyone can use it
