Public Poll @ Mambohut.com - Do you support the dev team?

Post by joomlahut » Thu Aug 18, 2005 3:14 pm

I created a new poll at mambohut.com today to get a feel of what the community thinks about what’s going on in Mambo land and I believe everyone is interested to know what the general public and the community think about this movement.

I know the results beforehand but I would like for everyone to participate to show the world what Mambo really is, a community or a corporation.

Correct me if i'm wrong. I thought the foundation counts 5 boardmembers. Yet, i see only 4 votes for "Miro & the new foundation". ;D

I thought Robert Castley already resigned from the Board?

Why four? It should have been three only!

You sound like you're pretty new around here, what code that was sold on mambohut?
your website is banner central???
Do you have a slight idea on how mush it cost to maintain a site like Mambohut? Did you donate a penny toward this cost? If not, I advise you keep your flaming comments to yourself  ;)

I think you have to be realistic in terms of what people do with open source software by way of making money. Some members of the core team sell add ons like SEF Advance for example.
We all need to make a living. Personally I have released a load of modules and components and if praise was money I'd be rich. I released open source, and aksed for donations towards support, net result so far is 1 donation, despite one hell of a lot of support being done.
I know some people do their Mambo work for the love or it, and I'd love to be in that position. But being self employed I need to generate and income and loads of others must be in the same boat. It is all a matter of give and take, and hopefully forums like this serve to show if people are freeloaders, or simply in it to grab a few bucks.

Great to see the poll, MamboHut. I've learned a lot from browsing sites like yours, and yours in particular is a favorite.

Yes; I know what it takes to keep a site going like yours. In my experience, it's more work than most would ever undertake, much less, pay for.

You do an outstanding job in many areas!

wow, it's been a while since i've heard such a nice feedback, thank you.

I think the poll results is very obvious by now, i am going to stop the poll after it reaches 500 voters.
