Why I'm back..

Post by eyezberg » Thu Aug 25, 2005 6:04 pm

Hi there, long time no see ;)

I'd like to say thanks to some people here for their posts, you folks have convinced me that OSM was for the better of what-will-soon-have-been-Mambo. No names, lest I forget anyone. They'll know I hope.

I want to say sorry for my impatience to anyone getting fed up with my questions.
I still look forward to seeing them answered some day.. :)

I thank those who posted for their kind messages of understanding and support, warmed my heart.

I do hope a better structure (a Foundation maybe?  ;D ) will result from some of my comments (not saying the old one was really bad, just not suited anymore for the importance ??? was gaining -both in users, and in our hearts) and the reflexion on how to go on with this the Devs must have thought through during these last few days/nights.

I do not want to work on the Doc Team any more, I started this contribution at a time when Docs were really lacking, and I think the situation, still not perfect, has since then much improved and the new members are going to do a fantastic job. I'm open to other suggestions once the new structure is in place and urgent matters have been taken care of -and I'm back online, as I'll be moving in just a few days and will be offline for at least a week if all goes well, longer if not..

I shall end by saying thanks to the Core for their courage and investment of time and energy, and I hope on the next occasion we can help out a bit more than just wait and trust.. (sorry, I had to, lol..). Now we are free, let's just not talk about Miro/Mambo anymore, but really move on. Everyone is waiting for the liberating new name (let's hope it's good, guys!), and as soon as we all know and have the new domains up and running, it will be business as usual.. same team, same code, (same missing ACL, yeah, and others, but just wait..) same us.. but after all this, IMHO, a stronger community, where many talents and ressources have been uncovered and will hopefully be put to good use by the team ;)

so: no big deal, but I'm back.

Thanks for reading.
Going to look for a suitable avatar now..

I didn't, I asked for the other account to be removed (or maybe deactivated, so no-one can (ab)use it later..?!).

I honestly do believe it's a loss if you leave Joe and didn't like your goodbye thread. You have helped many people including myself, and of course for that I am very happy. I think things will smooth out soon and move forward.  Maybe one day you'll re-join the docs.

Cheers eyezberg!

The "Humor, Fun and Games" forum has  more than 2500 Posts, so why not build a "Humor, Fun and Games Working" Group?

Wrong - it does make a big difference. I was hoping for that, Joe. You've done the project a whole lot of good. Welcome back.

Glad you're back, Joe... There's a good number of people that are "essential" to this forum - you're among the top five, and this community is richer for you having come back...

Go get 'em , Tiger!  :)

Ah ha!  Bonne nouvelle!

Good news.  Thanks for reconsidering and deciding to stay among us.  Things are always evolving, of course, but without you, it really wouldn't be the same thing.  Not at all.  I'm also in agreement with zorro.

Good luck with the move, it's not always an easy thing to do.

Glad to see you're back! You helped me directly on more than one occasion on the other forum.  ;D  And from the messages I've read here upon your departure announcement, as well as upon your return, it's quite clear there are many of us who have benefitted from your presence!

Welcome back!

Vavroom - you forgot the "Quebecois Expression" in your translation!  "Not at all" just doesn't seem the same, does it?  LOL

French or English - I'm with you....  Joe puts in a LOT to this community, and without him a "revolution" just seems like a lowly "evolution".  :)

Hehehehe, I'd forgotten you read French :)  I hadn't forgotten at all to translate "pantoute" though.  It just doesn't translate well :)

Yeah - almost like "Va Chier" (sp?)  ....  LOL!  That doesn't translate well either.  :)

Anyway, before we run the risk of hijacking Joe's "Welcome Back!" thread - I replied to your email - we can poorly translate all we want in there.  LOL

Hey Joe!  Do YOU read French?

"Mon ami - je suis tres heureuse que vous avez retourner! Je n'est pas le seul!"

Translated (and remember - my french has a real bad english accent) :  "My friend - I am really glad you're back!  And I'm not alone!"

Simply great news. I was sure we would hear from you again and the fact that it is so soon is an added bonus. Now here is a question some of the more 'pure' French might answer - does being of Acadian French descent count? (be nice)  :)  Welcome back Joe.

Nobody's ever pure...  I am proud of my mongrel heritate ;)  That said, I've always found it funny when people came up to me and said "I'm French Canadian", and they didn't speak the language, and in fact had never been to Canada.  Their grand parents had emigrated to the US 50-60 years ago kinda thing...

Me, I'm a citizen of the World :)

I was born in New Brunswick actually but yes, Nova Scotia is most closely associated with the Acadians. Mom is a Leblanc and Dad is a Pascal. I'm pretty much an assimilated anglophone now - my French profile is pretty weak but I'm still proud to have French origins. So can I be in the 'French club' too? Canada is so multi-cultural now that the founding ethnicities are quickly becoming minorities in their own right - not a bad thing at all as we become more a reflection of global diversity.

Of course we love to 'blame the French' - or is that 'blame Canada'? Anyway, now that Eyezberg is back we can blame him. Yeah, that's it - blame Eyezberg. Merde!

Tim Pascal
