Does this mean that the OSM legally has the power to create a 4.5.3 update of Mambo and posting it as OSM?

Or were you talking about Mambo Foundation?

Cause I didn't really get your answer...

First first release from this team will be what would have been Mambo 4.5.3.

I see, thank you. But what I wanted to know was will we be able to move to the new CMS version (that is as Mambo 4.5.3 Should have been) from Mambo 4.5.2.3 can we move our css changes to the template, content, etc?

Yes, the release will be fully backwards compatable and will have an upgrade path. :)

I saw someone mention that whatever and whenever the next release occurs rather than call it 4.5.3 it should be version 1.0 of whatever the newnameCMS is.

I happen to agree with that.  I'm guessing that is what the core dev team has in mind but I'd love to have some verification of that.

Dev team?  What say you?

My question is, will the next release be version 4.5.3 or will it be version 1.0 of the newly named CMS?

The idea is that it will be version 4.5.3 of the renamed CMS. Original no?

Ray,

Wouldn't it be nice to have a newsletter subscription in the main site, this way we will be informed and I think that the smoke will settle in the forums.
If the users are aware that they will be notified with the latest news, they will not keep questioning the same things numerous times and leave the core dev team time to progress.

Do you agree ?

Q – If the previous team leaves, will they still be developing a version of Mambo?

A – The previous development team is always free to take a copy of the Mambo source code to develop their own product. However, they will not be able to refer to their project as 'Mambo' or include the word Mambo in their project's name, as the trademark is globally owned by Miro who has only granted its use to the Foundation.
I don't know if they can restrain the use of mambo in a composite word. Miro cannot globally own a trademark that also belong to other companies on other products, right?
Also, isn't it a common word? Can common words be trademarked? Isn't it the "Windows" problem again?

Hello, dear all.

I'm just join in.

Is there a new name for our OSM?
