Whatever the name, it should be:  1)  Easy to remember  2)  Easy to spell  3)  Intuitively make sense to the average person, and 4)  Available domain NewName.org/net/com

In order to become popular with the mainstream, the name needs all of those properties for people to write about it, users to ask for it by name, easily find it online, etc..

Of course, this is assuming that one of the goals of our new group is to attract and grow as big a user base as possible...  Do we even have an official set of goals?  Why are we all here?

At this point I am starting to see the real lack of leadership and authority to get things accomplished without the help of a governing sort of organization.  Perhaps a foundation should be set up the *right* way, with a voter-approved board of directors and set of officer positions.  I'm not suggesting we go super-formal corporate style, but something at least with enough authorized organization to conduct polls, make decisions, etc...  Is there a forum thread somewhere that I'm just missing, or has anyone else pointed this out?

Maybe we should follow Prince's lead and just create a symbol and call it "the CMS formerly known as Mambo".

Thanks ... that you're supporting my idea  :)  .... I think the name needs vowels to have a sound. Just an abbreviation is not enough to keep it in mind. There are a lot of CMSes using CMS in its name.

PoCoMa  ==  Powerful Content Management
;D ;D ;D

POCOMAs (poco más) in Spanish means "a little more"... I would rather "a lot more"  ;)

TANGO

powerful
sensual
passed the test of times
nothing like it
cames in many "flavors"
etc ;)

Cheers!

the only thing i say, is why is it related to dance and spanish, it is apposed to be a cms not a dance whilst it is global, not a spanish word used. Following what i said in another article, it is arefreshing start again for mambo...

i'll just say it ever, something related to hydra or hyrdo, or possibly H20 or basically something related to water.

or if people want to stay with that spanish dance thing, go with paprkia or chilly or mexican spices.

no, imho we'd better off leaving all the gumbo, limbo, bimbo, sambo behind us. The CMS formerly known as *ambo is strong enough to make it to a completely new breed.

"Livre" in a previous post was quite good, though I am not sure it's easy enough to spell.

I used to have a company in Norway a few years ago called Dynamic Integration. I had the same intentions as what I saw in Mambo. A dynamic, flexible set of tools for building a variety of sites. The toolkit could be another suggestion. Dynamictools another.

So, my suggestions are as follows:

Dynamic-Integration
Thetoolkit
Dynamictools

Hello community,

Here are some more ideas. All of them have pros and cons. Just brain-storming, in fact, but might help.  :)

OSMOS <- osmoses => communication, exchange.
JAUJA <- Land of Joy => Joy, fun, abundance. Approx. pronounced 'how-ha'
Taxon <- Group of organisms => Community, mutual help.
Simbios <- Symbiosis => Interaction, life in common.
Diaspora <- Scattered => Those who were force to leave.
Gutt <- Guttenberg => Make knowledge available to all.
Rouss <- Rousseau => Man is good by nature.
Mayflower <- Ship => Pioneers, new land to explore.
Isidore <- Saint Isidore of Seville => Culture to people, vast knowledge.
Tabas <- Ancient children's game -> Joy, easy to spell and pronounce.
Sinodos <- Synodos = walk a common way => Community, co-operation.
NeoNeo <- New New => Self explanatory.
Pulpa <- Spanish for pulp => The best part of the fruit.
Entente <- Understanding => Let's work together.
My Extensions: JM-Recommend, JM-Credits, JM-Link Us (for J! 1.0.x). Find them in the 3rd Party Extensions Forum.

i think tango is rubbish, as it is used as a softdrink in the uk, used as a dance. it is been used to much and anything with the ambo ending is crummy, as it should be a complete start from the old mambo. We still have the source code, we don't need their name.

I don't think Tango is such a bad name - and its only the vowels that are the same as Mambo.

Other names I'd nominate are Livre, Tabas , and Sinodos .
