Well, Melody sounds like we're going to leave behind all bitterness, so that's good. Nice word.
Palladium is a great fun take off on the beginnings of $ambo. Very appropriate.

Both of these words have great graphic possibilities.

I agree; give me a good name, (without orange text), and I will be happy to leave it on my root pages...

I sincerely enjoyed reading the posts that talked about what names would be easier to promote and market, and why. Quite thought provoking.

The idea off setting up a public vote for the new name is great, and in line with the "community" thinking behind Mambo and the OpenSourceMatters.

If having the name "Mambo" as part of the new name will not pose a legal issue (and I don't think it should, with my little knowledge of trademark laws), OpenMambo could be something to think about, as it would not cause too much stir in the Mambo community -- everyone with a "mambo" in their domains would be happy! Think about OpenOffice.org as an ongoing development to serve as an open source alternative to Microsoft's suite. This would be the same thing.

Still a connection to the original logo of 'TCMSFKAM'. And Fox is like Firefox; came out of nowhere and stood up against the 'worlddominator' (IE).

And Google finds only one person who's using it as username....

I like the enthousiasm of people thinking of a new name. But i personal prefer no name with MAMBO in it.

And does the name really have to do with some music?? seen tango, jango, etc....

Think of something new and don't think: i have already a domainname with mambo in it. So it's cheap for me if we use mambo.
A registration of a new domain does not cost a lot of money.

this is true....but you have to think of all the advertising, marketing, etc that these companies have developed or paid to have developed. If there was a way to keep Mambo in the name I would see the point. Even though 301 redirects can be set up for sites with good SEO it still takes time. Alot of the 3rd party developers are going to be the ones hurt...they will have to rebrand as well. Just my opinion.
