delete old joomla template and install a new one

Post by cs071372 » Wed Aug 27, 2014 8:21 pm

Hi all,
i want to change the template of my website. Thus, i installed a new template. My problem is that all the menus, items, modules etc. appear in the new template. I want totally to erase everything from the previous website and start working on the new templates with the items that the new own gives me.

Any idea how i can totally delete everything?

Thanks in advance
D

Wipe everything and start with a fresh installation of Joomla.

The Template is just the look of the site. Content, Menus and Modules are not part of it.
You can get a Quick Start Package that contains full Joomla, Template and Sample Data.

Delete configuration.php. Upload from the distribution package. Then run the install. Select the option to drop the old database tables.

Hi,
i managed to delete my old website, but i think i did some more that i shouldnt have done. When i installed the new joomla for my website, an error popped up that the database already exists and joomla cannot be installed. So, i thought i should delete tha database. After i deleted the database, the new joomla app was successfully installed but wherever i want to go into the plesk panel i get this error:
ERROR: Zend_Db_Adapter_Exception: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory (Abstract.php:144)
And this is what appears when i open my website:
Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error: Could not connect to MySQL

Apparently, i shouldnt have deleted the database.
any ideas how i can fix that ?

thanks again
