help with browser address bar icon (solved)

1.ano po ang tawag sa icon na nakikita sa address bar...or sa tab: eg joomla logo then Start new topic (yan nakikita ko).

2. paano po gumawa ng ganun at paano ang process ng paglagay nun sa sariling site?

its called fav icon.

check out an easy generator here:

when you got the fav.ico file place it under the joomla folder /images

pretty straight forward.

i tried the method u posted but instead of the Joomla logo i get a logo looking like a paper

Had same problem, easy fix ...

ensure that the html snipet points to the correct image directory

(e.g. change <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" > to <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/images/favicon.ico" >

Also, learned something else -

you can use a .png file instead of .ico ion order to get that clear background look, just change favicon.ico to favicon.png - easy!

I tried copying favicon.ico but browser still shows the joomla icon. I tried clearing cache but does't help. Anything else that needs to be changed?

Got solution.. I have been using JA-T3 templates and it points to template folders for icon file.

Steps to get it done.
1) load your site in browser and view the source.
2) Check for <link rel="shortcut icon" href="somepath/favicon.ico" >
3) Either put your file there or change template files to point to right icon..

omg i dont know what im doing. first of all i upload my favicon and theres a ! above it. Does this matter? Secondly where exactly am I placing it under or am I to install something?

Hello,
I have a site (Domain A) in which my favicon icon works (i.e., it appears in the address bar). However, I have another domain (Domain B) which is forwarded with mask to (Domain A). When I use the url of domain B, the icon (that I set for site/Domain A) doesn't appear in the address bar.

Please advise me how to make the icon appear in the address bar for the "Forwarded with mask" domain (Domain B).

tough question when we cant see the source code is at. might be the source code is pulling it from DOMAIN a(the favicon) while domain a doesnt allow other sites getting the image?

Thank you for the reply. Site A is www.caaru.org and cite B is www.caaru.ca. caaru.ca is forwarded to caaru.org.

Any suggestion?
