Re: Joomla! Promotion on other sites and forums
That is way one of doing it
my suggestion is putting the Joomla! in your signature
Non intrusive and certainly not spamming

That's what *ambolove is.. The original domain for it was spreadmambo (bought by Brad Baker who then gave it to Miro).farimi wrote: Maybe firefox strategy would work?
Unless you're thinking of something like an entire page ad in a paper.. :-X

Well, let see,
1. we have the appz that's definitely rock.
2. we have the core dev 24/7 and supporting members of 3280 members for the time being.
3. we are going to have the branding 'joomla!'
so next is our marketing strategy. Promotion, promotion, promotion.

Spreadjoomla just makes us look like we're playing catch up with *ambolove.

Re: Joomla! Promotion - Get the word out!
Actually, Mambolove is little more than a badly concieved link referral program, with an unattributed take on the MamboDay concept some community members came up with before Miro took over Mambo.absalom wrote:That's what *ambolove is.. As for "SpreadMambo", the origins for that come from the Publicity and Advocacy forum on Mamboserver where I came up with the concept of "GoMambo". SpreadMambo was too derivative of Spread Firefox obviously, and I'm not sure what makes you think Brad gave spreadmambo.com to Miro? He did register GoMambo, as at the time we were starting on the concept with John from Mambosolutions. GoMambo was certainly not given to Miro, and I don't remember Brad ever owning SpreadMambo.com
Looking at how badly thought out MamboLove is, I'm not even sure if they really read much at all of the discussion on the old forums, or their effort would surely be more than some badly worded marketing and flimsily coded link referral component.
Even though the GoMambo concept was never launched, which is lucky for those of us that would have put a lot of work into it only to have it taken along with the rest of the project, I think you can rest assured that the concept itself is not dead...
Although there is a lot of love for Joomla, it's pretty safe to say there's not going to be a JoomlaLove site and the only love points anyone will be getting in the near future is that "lonemamber" on the top 5 over at Mambolove right now. Classic.
Cheers,
Damian
