Has anyone Googled "Joomla"? Interesting results  :-*

Of course, it was one of the factors we considered when we selected the name  ;)

About selecting the name, stringrey. I can imagine i takes a lot of time to research everything surrounding a new name. At what point in time did the devteam decide 'this thread thing isn't working out'? It's a shame to keep people shooting ideas while a professional agency was already on the job.

Hi,

i for myself have read (sorry, don't know what thread it was) that there is an agency on the name...
Here for example:  Friday, 26 August 2005
http://www.opensourcematters.org/index. ... 7&Itemid=1
"We have decided to choose a new name for the project, formerly known as Mambo and have accepted the offer of free advice from a world leading brand consultancy."

Some of the excellent ideas in the name-finding-thread were grapped soon after they were posted - because of that the election had to be without the community (imagine you'd have 5 possibilitys to vote for - how long do you think it would take for some to register those domains? Devs would have to register all of those possibilitys before the vote...)

I was wondering all the time why people didn't stop to post new names, even after the announcement was made... i'm not sure but i think the agency-fact was mentioned in that thread, too.

regards,

tyndal
