Search of japanese text

Hi, maybe this has been asked but I am getting no joy. I am using Joomla 1.5.18. I have tried creating articles as well as using a componenet called Glossword, and the strange thing is I cannot search for Japanese text. The search in english works just fine, but searches in Japanese bring up nothing. If you go to my test site, www.stairbuilders-nw.com/dicitonary you'll see what I mean (yes it is spelled wrong, but that is the address.

Anyway, in order for me to even contemplate using Joomla, I need to resolve this. any suggestions or tips on how to enable searching of Japanese text would be appreciated.
