Patch file to update Accessible Joomla to latest version

Post by duvien » Mon Jan 08, 2007 11:11 am

I couldn't wait for the developer to release a patch for Accessible Joomla! since they didn't think it was that important but i think the real deal is that they were too busy which is understandable. Therefore, instead of hanging around waiting (someone also mentioned about releasing a patch but fail to do so for whatever reason but i had hope that person could have posted a reply to inform others) and after a week without a patch, i thought i'll try and patch it myself.

For those that are currently running Accessible Joomla! and require to upgrade now, go to: http://forge.joomla.org/sf/discussion/d ... 56929  and download it.

So far it is working fine but if you experience any problems, please report it in the same post where you obtained a copy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an unofficial patch and is only used for patching accessible Joomla! 1.0.11a to 1.0.12 latest.

INSTALLATION: download the official Joomla_1.0.11_to_1.0.12-Stable-Patch_Package.zip and overwrite your Accessible Joomla! 1.0.11a and then apply this patch (a8ejoomla-patch-1.0.12.zip) by overwriting it again.

thanks,

duvien

EDITED:

I thought i'll attach the patch package here as well.

Thanks Duvien, Great work.

As I understand from this forum and the discussions in the forge project pages, there won't be any more changes to the code i.e. semantic headings, removal of tables, etc. from the current a8e accessible joomla.

I also understand that the .12 will be the last in the 1.0 series.  Would it be a good idea to have the choice of accessible versions, one that the core team can eventually integrate into the 1.5 series which won't break backwards compatibility and can be overridden by templates and an ultra version that is totally web standard, semantic, accessible and more search engine friendly?

I'm not clear one this one as i'm not in touch with the developer of a8eJoomla! but i think it maybe possible to still submit any improvements you have made to be commit to a8eJoomla!.

Joomla! 1.5 will not require this because you can use template overrides to remove any tables you wish. But an official (not a fork) patch version for the 1.0.x series would be a good idea. This should give a greater choice for those that aren't using older or existing free or commerical templates.

thanks,

Any possibility that this will work in JSAS as I don't want to work with a live server.

Sorry I've no idea as i've never used JSAS. If you need to work off a test server why not try WAMP.

Accessible Joomla! is now an official release:

http://forge.joomla.org/sf/frs/do/viewR ... la_1_0_12a

Also added some minor bugfixes submitted by snoboJohan to this 1.0.12a release.

thanks,

Hi,

I dont know if this is a feature or a bug, but it seems illogical.

If you select a blog layout and select 2 columns and more than 2 intro items, their classes arent named in sequence.

The intro items are labeled class="itemblock item_0" for the first item, then i assume should be sequencial after that. However this is not the case, they are laid out as follows (2 columns, 4 intro):

Code: Select all

<div class="blogintro">
   <div class="blogcolumn column_0">
      <div class="itemblock item_0">content</div>
      <div class="itemblock item_2">content</div>
   </div>
   <div class="blogcolumn column_1">
      <div class="itemblock item_1">content</div>
      <div class="itemblock item_3">content</div>
   </div>
</div>
In my eyes, it should be laid out:

Code: Select all

<div class="blogintro">
   <div class="blogcolumn column_0">
      <div class="itemblock item_0">content</div>
      <div class="itemblock item_1">content</div>
   </div>
   <div class="blogcolumn column_1">
      <div class="itemblock item_2">content</div>
      <div class="itemblock item_3">content</div>
   </div>
</div>
To me this makes much more sense as the blog layout in the original joomla runs from left to right, if you have 4 newsflash atricles they are displayed:

Newsflash 1  Newsflash 2
Newsflash 3  Newsflash 4

So... is this a feature of a bug?

Thanks

oli
