CSS validation: 1 small unexplainable error: why ????

Hello,
can anyone explain me why i get this error when i try to validate my html code. it's seems to me that the error pointed should not be there, i need to close my statement, here is the error message i get from the w3c validator:

This page is not Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional!

      You have used character data somewhere it is not permitted to appear. Mistakes that can cause this error include putting text directly in the body of the document without wrapping it in a container element (such as a aragraph) or forgetting to quote an attribute value (where characters such as "%" and "/" are common, but cannot appear without surrounding quotes).

maybe there should not be a space between / and >. try /> not / >
