Is this a validation bug in 1.5 Beta 2?

Post by bennieblanco » Sat May 12, 2007 2:14 am

It looks like bug to me but you might want to take a look. I was testing my templates with new and improved 1.5 Beta
Only bug that I see is that the markup will not validate if the pdf icon is published. Once you unpublish it you get the green light

this is the error

# Error  Line 202 column 358: an attribute value specification must be an attribute value literal unless SHORTTAG YES is specified.

...no,location=no'); return false;" rel=nofollow><img src="templates/simple_date

This is the site without the pdf icon try to validate it

Looking at it quickly, it looks like you need quotes round the  rel=nofollow

i.e.

rel="nofollow"

It's better to create a tracker item on joomlacode.org: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... cker_id=32

Result: Failed validation, 49 errors for http://www.google.ca/

It seems this is a problem for most of the site that use a CSS template. i've check CNN international as well and that page had 102 errors. most of the Joolma errors are from other programs installed with Joomla like 3rd party software, and RSS feeds that contain errors. If the Big site are not compling with Accessibility and validation, then the internet has gone to the dogs.

Lets check a few other sites eh!

http://www.isound.com/
Result:  Failed validation, 179 errors

http://news.bbc.co.uk/
Result:  Failed validation, 154 errors

This thread!
Result:  Failed validation, 8 errors

http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
Result:  Failed validation, 5 errors

SO maybe someone could tell me why this is a big deal if even Microsoft dot COM!!! can't get it right!
why?
I'm beginning to believe that either the validation is wrong  http://validator.w3.org/
or they are behind in the technology that the internet provides
or they are nuts.

:'(

The only way i could validate one of my web sites was to basically have all the links posted with the full URL and no wierd file naming, and so on, and thus you come up with a very bland site. That's HTML for ya.....  :(

Q&T Note; the tracker item has been fixed and verified, so validation is now working again for the original post above about the pdf icon.
