As mentioned earlier, I think it says quite the opposite. See the angle of the bird - it seems to be "going down", i.e. crashlanding. This is not a good message to put out there. Other than this, it is a good logo, so please, make it fly :)

One problem with that one is that it might become too wide when the flat version is used (like in the website header).
Otherwise, nice idea and thanks for liking it. ;)

Ladies and Gentle-people......
We have a winner, applause.
Even if it doesnt win I will start a fork which we can use the logo.  Will start up a new website called really-wide-open-ketchup saucematters.com  Otherwise there is the other cms that is looking for rebranding.  Maybe we can send it to MEro or something other funny name  like that..

While I do like the imagery of this, I can't shake the feeling that the bird reminds me of the Partridge Family. As I've thought about it, I realize the orientation of the bird isn't even the same, but I guess the overall "feel" must be similar, at least to me.

This is diffantly one of the best ones, I really really like it.

The only problem is on a first glance the bird looks upside down.
Maybe by adding a tail in the format as the wings just smaller.
Hope that makes sense. Im impressed to bits with your style.

Great work  ;D

If a animal like logo is choosen is should be named (like tux) That always adds something extra to a logo.

Most of these logos will be done as vector art to satisfy the scalability requirements.  There are many tools to do this.  I personally use inkscape, but there are others.

Agreed, I do like the sound of "Jbird" :)

I like the bird very much. Also it will be easier to reproduce in small sizes than for example the "self assembled"-logo (other thread) which looks nice to but is probably a bit too complex. As for the font, my personal favorite is still the font used for the "infinity"-logo. It would be interresting to see a combination of the two (Jbird+Infinity font).

It reminds me too much of the mamboss.net logo.
