SMF/Mambo - Help Requested

Post by david7 » Sun Sep 11, 2005 6:52 pm

Hi everyone...  let me say I love Mambo, and thanks in advance for the assistance of this fine community. I am a newbie to your community, and appreciate your patience with me and your expertise.

First, I cannot seem to find the "Community Builder" download location. I am not sure I need it but, please read on.

I am trying to integrate SMF into Mambo, and get the proper layout I need. I have installed the SMF forums... the smf_mambo3.1.tar.gz... the com_smf.zip....  the com_smf_registration... the mod_smf_login. (as instructed in the 4 step process). I have managed to get the bridge up and working fine.

The problem I am having is this:  I managed to get the system to work while using the rhuk_solarflare_ii template. However, I need to modify the template because I need 100% of the width of the page for the main body due to an application I have running in a wrapper.

I have created a modified template. I placed all php attributes (of the rhuk_solarflare_ii template) into the modified layout. And upon doing that, the SMF/Mambo bridge no longer recognized the log-in and bridged the log-in to the forums.

I am wondering if installing the "Community Builder" will in any way assist in completing the bridge. Maybe I am wrong about that.

My problem with the rhuk_solarflare_ii template seems to be simple...  I just need to eliminate the right and left side menus to have the main body of the template display 100% width.
I have tried to eliminate the menus (both left and right) with no success, and on several other templates as well. I can successfully eliminate either the right or left margins...  but not both.

The modified template I created works perfectly regarding layout...  but the log-in bridge no longer works.  Do I need to install "Community Builder"?  If so where can I find it?

If not, can anyone help me understand how to shut down both the left and right margin areas (menus) of the rhuk_solarflare_ii template and have 100% width for my main body page and wrapper?

Thanks in advance...  any assistance you might provide will be greatly appreciated.

:D

Community Builder will not help you one bit with this issue.

Do you have a URL?

Can you copy your Mambo template index.php and post it between code tags here?

Yikes!  It looks like you have completely deleted the left and right columns from the template, and added in a few things that do not belong there.

I would suggest starting clean, and doing something similar to this:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community ... ic=40334.0

That will make your left and right columns conditional:  If there are modules to load in the left column, it will display, but if there are none, it does not.  The same of the right column.  Then you just make sure to set all of your left and right modules to not display on the forum page.
