SMF - Joomla template?

Post by psychos » Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:50 am

oh wow! thanks so much Predator! ill check it out!

what i realise here  is, the forum is open with no side menu. i use smf forum too and i love it. it would be nice to have my forum open 100% view like this one and still wrapped with link on top. ive been searching for a long time to find a nice template like this, so my wrapped forum wont be too small to read...

can i make some of my pages not linking to the side menu? for example the smf forum, wrapped and only link to the top menu?

thanks!!

yeah, you can do that :)  there are a few ways to accomplish this.  http://internetbonsaiclub.org does this.  The SMF install is in "Galleries".

You could:
1-Create a  modified template that doesn't display side modules, only your SMF forum, assign that modified template only to com_smf
or
2- in your template, check to see what the URL of the page is.  if it is your forum, then deliver the content in one column, if it's not the forum, then two columns with the modules showing where they need to be.

I use this Template which i gave a link before:

http://www.joomlastandards.org/componen ... Itemid,26/

To have it look like this you only have to add some if clause:

and one to close the extra div`s if there is a module in left

Now you only have disable in the menu options of the modules which you use in the left row not to display in the forum page.

If the clause has no module in left ( count = 0 ) than you have one column, if than the column for the left modules displays.
The "Humor, Fun and Games" forum has  more than 2500 Posts, so why not build a "Humor, Fun and Games Working" Group?
.....
Malicious tongues say we have this WG right from the start, they call it core team :D

Hi Predator:

Could you please post your code and your index.php or email it to me @ ron.jagannathan@gmail.com Please.

Could you also state which template of Joomla are you using and where can this be downloaded from. Thanks! R.J
