Using Joomfish with Community Builder or JEvents

Post by Laus » Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:54 pm

Hi,

I have been using joomfish for some time, but for the first time I am using it in conjunction with JEvents and Community Builder on a Joomla 1.0.15 installation.

I have a couple of things to iron out, firstly the days of the week on JEvents. These are translated and appear correctly when the events is viewed, however the 'Latest Events' module still uses the English week days and months.

Community Builder is my biggest problem though, although I have downloaded and installed the recommended Joomfish elements to translate this is will not work see the translations at all.

Has anyone got any experience with using either of these extensions bilingually that I could probe for a few answers?

Many Thx,

Laus.

You should post this question in the Joomfish or Community builder forums.

I have, but neither of them have a Welsh Forum, and it seems that the problem only exists for us people using Welsh in our sites, both of the extensions mention work fine for other languages but it is Welsh they seem to have a problem with, hence the question being posted here. According to one source there are server settings which must have Cymraeg as a language option - and this being the only Welsh specific forum related to Joomla, I had hoped it might be something that somebody has come across and could confirm/dispell this theory.

Can you recommend a Welsh Web Developers Forum were there are a few more participating members and a little more chance of some feedback, we seem to be a bit thin on the ground here lately don't we?

Laus, the problem of translating CB using JoomFish is not limited to Welsh. Myself and several other posters there are able to enter translations in the backend, but they do not display in the front end.

You will find many CB 1.2.1 translations in here as well as instructions if your language isn't in there:

Beat,

When you say "translations", are you refering to always displaying CB in another language, or are you refering to an XML content elements file that will actually work with joomfish to help manage multiple languages?

What are you trying to achieve in with CB in fact ?

Translating CB is more Joomla-like than jomfish database data

Jomfish would mainly only translate your user-provided content

I'm trying to achieve a CB enhanced community portal available in French and English (and eventually several other languages). It is key that the user be able to switch between languages.

Then you only need to install the language plugins of CB into CB.

No need for any special jomfish settings or files here. :)

CB will automatically use the language file of the logged in user. :)

You're welcome. :)

If you have any questions with CB, best is to use our forums over at http://www.joomlapolis.com/ where we have our team happy to help, answering every day most posts whenever possible, starting with the ones which are detailed enough to be able to help. ;)
