Drupal is not having these kind of problems, I think its time to switch. By the time the forge.joomla gets running, I'll be an expert in Drupal and not have to suffer through this mess. buh-bye joomla.

Why don't they keep the forge running and try to fix it/work on it on a different server? you don't need a that much to test the system cause you don't have all of us trying to connect.  :) (Just throwing out ideas)

Bittorrent?

Post by lihuyt » Fri Mar 09, 2007 2:35 am

Like a guy mentioned in a post, why don't go with bittorrent too? It would have helped alot, and could have made the downloads faster. Not a full takeover, but for safety so that we don't have to be waiting for days (like I am doing now)

@lihuyt
For any serious administrator bittorent can't be a solution. The risk of downloading code that contains hacks is just too high. There has to be an offical (secure) download location.
However, "running"a service that is down all the time and prevents from downloading MANY extensions can't be a solution either. I really hope the J!-team will find a solution very soon.

Does anybody know where I can get the install package for JEvents?  The Forge site seems to be bogged down again.  Send to [email protected], or post a link here.

Thanks in advance!

There is a bit of a difference between a debian download of several gigabytes and a joomla extension of 1mb. The point about a secure trusted downlaod site is valid and that is why the S&I team have worked hard to get the new improved service online asap
